Getting to grips with WordPress 2.5
WordPress I came across the announcement of WordPress 2.5 at the weekend on Daily Blog Tips and decided to upgrade all my blogs with this new version. As usual the update was quick and painless and from what I have seen in the last few days, 2.5 has to be the release with the most changes in some time. The first thing that you notice is the cosmetic changes in the admin area. Everything has been tidied up to give the wordpress script a more professional feel about it. Don’t worry, it won’t take you long to find where everything is as the top nav links are pretty much the same (albeit the ...

Design & Coding As I was redesigning my own site I debated what resolution to use. More and more sites are optimized for screens at 1024×768, and the WC3 reports 80% of users have monitors that big or bigger. Even my own stats suggest users on my site with 800×600 at only 4%. But it’s still 4%, which is more then Opera, Safari, and IE5 combined and I still make sure my sites work within that ...

Writing Recently, one of my posts became popular on a forum about Windows Vista versus Windows XP, simply because the title of the post seemed relevant to the forum discussion. Unfortunately, it’s a very brief post from 2002 that hardly deals with the subject at all. In fact, it’s pretty dull. The question now is: should I rewrite this little bulletin? I could use this traffic as a chance to earn ...

Continue readingCommon Myths Regarding Accessibility
Design & Coding Historically, there has been some resistance among web designers toward building websites in an accessible manner. This resistance has arisen not due to a wish to discriminate against people who might benefit from accessible design, but rather from a fear that accessibility will limit designers’ options in how they create their sites. There’s also the fact that accessibility seems ...
