Cash Prizes

This competition relies on the recently added Credits System. The credit system rewards those who are active on the forum.

I cannot explain exactly how credits are awarded as I believe that a small percentage would try and cheat the system. However, the main thing to realise is that credits are fundamentally rewarded for being active on the forum including :

• Referrals
• Registering
• Logging in
• Posting

One thing I can say, you get a lot more credits for referring new members to the site. To see how you can do this please view the thread below.

I will also give an additional 100 credits to anyone who posts about this forum competition on their blog. You are more than welcome to use your referrer link in your blog post. If you do post about the competition please leave a message in this thread including a link to your blog post

On friday November 28th 2008 at 12pm Eastern Time (New York Time Zone), the top 50 members with the most credits will share $1,000 of cash prizes. I will switch the credit system off at 12pm ET and I will prepare the list of winners. Please allow a day or so for the list to be collated.

The money will be distributed accordingly :

1st Place : $200
2nd Place : $150
3rd Place : $75
4th & 5th : $50
6th-10th : $25
11th-15th :$15
16th-30th:$10
31st-50th : $5

I want this competition to be fun however I also want it to be fair. Please make sure you check out all the notes, rules and conditions of the competition below.

• Please note that all payments will be made via paypal. If you cannot receive cash via paypal you will not be eligible for any cash prizes and the next person in the list will get the prize. I know this means some bloggers can’t participate but this is where my money is and it’s also the quickest and easiest way for me to transfer money to the winners. I normally try and accomodate those who can't access paypal however with 50 prizes up for grabs it just isn't practical.
• In order to win a cash prize you must have at least 50 posts on the forum.
• Only one forum account per person ie. anyone trying to sign up with multiple accounts in order to get a 2nd prize will be ineligible for any prize whatsoever.
• Anyone trying to cheat the credits system will not be eligible for any prizes and may be banned from the forum. This includes frequent posts with little or no content. If you want to thank someone for helping you out please use the thank you option which is attached to every post instead of posting 'thanks' all the time!
• Obviously, I am not eligible for any prize

I know I have added a lot of rules to the forum competition however it is important that it is fair for all members and no one gets an unfair advantage.

I want to understand more about credits. What these credits are, and how can we use them later whenever we want to? Are these credits some kind of points that can be redeemed later for any service, or they simply represent the activity of the member?

Some of those weekly prizes are making me salivate more than the case prizes. Whilst I would never normally spend much on services etc, the chance to speak with a successful blogger is huge!

Really like this competition and I will be doing my best to add quality posts and content to your site and not just junk, because man would I love some of those prizes

Even I would love to know more about credits. And for what activity, we will get how many credits. If that would be possible, it would be nice. And I am definitely participating in the competition.

I think Kevins idea is if we know we will just start fudging it and adding content to the heaviest credited part. This is a content building exercise for Kevin an we should just keep adding relevant content where we think it is needed rather than simply trying to win a competition

mint - Yes these credits simply show how active a member has been. Many forums have added services so that once you reach a certain value you get something but I'm not sure if I want to go down that route as yet, mainly because I'm not sure how quickly members will rack up the points (ie. I can't say for every 100 credits you get $10 and then 1000 members get it within a week!!!). So for me, the credits system is mainly to monitor activity. However, I may add some other hacks in the future which work with the mod ie. something which members can use the credits for.

navjotjsingh - I can't tell members what they get credits for. That would completely defeat the purpose of this competition as members would find some way of getting credits without actually contributing to the forum. The cash and the prizes are being used to increase activity on the forums so if you are active here you should be in with a good change of a prize
