Recently came across this (http://labs.google.com/gaudi) Google audio indexing.
When I first saw this I thought 'nyah' a second look though...This would enable google to search videos for certain keywords, and then index them.
It uses speech recognition technology to find spoken words inside videos allowing you to jump right to the point in the video where the particular words were spoken.
The test site linked above is based on election speeches and the such and works well. (though not perfect).
This will be a great boost to video bloggers everywhere and open up HUGE marketing potential, then again our spammer friends would say 'joy as well'.
Imagine videos 30mins long all saying 'buy Viagra!'....
An interesting concept nonetheless
but being slightly paranoid after writing my latest article (http://thenexus.tk/information-superpower/) I have to say what are the implications of this software? what are the benefits for google crawling videos and storing voices / creating recognition software.....the inner paranoid says 'surveillance software' and 'anti-terrorist protection'.
Though back to the positive...the potential of this is HUGE!
