Changing width of evolution theme?

great theme!!

is there a way to change the overall width though? i went into the css and changed the width of 'container' to 800px to try, and it actually appeared wider, and pushed the right-hand header info off the page.

If you want to reduce the width you'll need to change not only .container but also the widths #headline, #headline h1 and #leftcolumn.

So for example to reduce .container to 800px you've taken 200px off the overall width, so reduce the others by 200px too. You'll also then need to alter some of the background graphics to fit in with the new width.
