I wonder is it good to upgrade wordpress latest version the next day it released? Am facing problems with my old version. So, i think new one may replace it but even after i upgraded to latest few days back, am still getting the same error! like even if i delete the tags they are not deleting and same with the categories too

maybe your problem is not tied with the version. For me, i upgrade only if I really need it because I'm too lazy to do it. I didn't upgrade to 2.6.3 but I am waiting for the 2.7 because they say that it has an auto-upgrade function.

It depends on the version. If it's a new milestone version (2.3, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7) then yes. I'll definitely be upgrading once 2.7 is here as it is sweet! However, minor upgrades depends on what's in the upgrade. If it's a security fix then yes, I usually do as I'd rather not have my site hacked or injected, however if it's a bug fix that I've not come across or a security fix that doesn't concern me then I won't rush to upgrade it.
I tend to upgrade the local version on my computer first which has an almost replica version of my site, then I can check everything works, all plugins are compatible etc. first. If they are then I'll upgrade my sites.

I am very paranoid on upgrading. I generally upgrade to every new version whenever its released no matter how much painful it can be with regards to non working problems. Regarding laziness, I use a plugin which can autoupdate my wordpress copy without me getting into ftp uploads.

2.7 has the auto upgrader built in so I can see that being quite a time saver for those who haven't tried (or known about) the plugin.

I have tested 2.7 Auto Upgrader and it works easy and cool. Infact since 2.7 is in beta mode, it even suggests to update from nightly builds if anyone wants too. Don't know whether this nightly build update will work in final version of 2.7 or not.
after being hacked twice on Wordpress sites i always upgrade as soon as i can.

I use the backup manager plugin for making backups. Is thee any plugin that can make scheduled backups and automatically email it to me (not talking about using cronjobs - but a wpress plugin).

There is the WP DB Backup. I installed it recently for a client to use to keep their db backed up (as they'll most likely break their site!)
In there you can schedule it to email you a backup. I guess it uses a visitor to the site to trigger the backup.

I don't about the auto update plugin before and the fact that 2.7 is coming already, I will just wait for it. by the wait, the db backup plugin you are taking about saves the database of the blog to a file then sends it in email automatically?

Yes. The backup plugin creates an export of a series of SQL commands, similar to how the export in phpMyAdmin works. As I said, at a guess it will either be triggered by a visitor (eg. you have it set to backup at say midnight then when a visitor comes to your site on or just after midnight it should trigger the backup script), alternatively you could possibly set this via your host using a CRON job (automated job to run a specified script at a given time).
You can then store the file and if you need to restore your site from the backup you'd use that file via something like phpMyAdmin to read the file in via the Import tab.

I upgrade WordPress as often as a new version is released. Unlike most other people, I don't mind the upgrade process even though having the core upgrade feature in 2.7 will be nice.
