Curious what payment processors you use besides paypal? Besides merchant accounts I've heard of moneybookers.com and a few others but haven't really done much into investigating them.

Am also planning to get a payoneer but their fees are high!

Have you used any / familiar with any others?

I used alertpay.com before because one click to pay that I joined in was using alertpay to pay their users. But I didn't really got any from alertpay because I did not earn much in the click to pay program.

Why do u need to use alertpay or anything else? Every service I have used (hosting, domain, tla, sponsoredreviews etc) support paypal (and often paypal only).

I use PayPal as it's quite widely known now, just don't trust them (ie. get your money out once you hit the threshold). I wouldn't trust PP to sell physical goods that's for sure. They do chargebacks too frequently for my liking. Also be on the lookout for fraudsters. I've had fraudulent payments on there and luckily spotted discrepancies in their account (usually the name of the account holder and the email address don't match up) before sending the purchased product.

We have Nochex in the UK which is much better but doesn't accept payment from certain countries.

I've looked at moneybookers but my one and only experience with them wasn't good. Template Monster use them to pay affiliates and so I had to create an account to get my earnings once, I requested the payout and after a month emailed TM who said that moneybookers were just not making the payments so paid me via PayPal. Bit of a concern really.

If/when I ever got the time I'd shift to a merchant processor such as Protx. It's cheaper for a start and much more respected in my eyes. That said, a few large online UK sites are starting to accept PayPal.

I dont know about protx and secpay (never head of them before) but most other alternatives to paypal that i have head about - egold, moneybookers and alertpay are even less trustworthy.

Protx is probably UK based (there may be a US version, never looked), and it's designed for companies/businesses with merchant account status, so it can give you site a bit more authority as not just anyone can have a merchant account (unlike PayPal).

secpay is the same so it requires you have a merchent account which is mroe expensive than PayPal which is why most use PayPal. The other one which seems to be ok is Google checkout

Just as a said, one program, paid to click, a program that pays you when you read an advertisement says that they don't trust paypal and they suggested alertpay so in that case, I joined alertpay. Beside that, i only use paypal. I am not really sure, but why these people don't trust paypal after the company served them well good already. :D

I've heard plenty of stories about PayPal freezing accounts for no real reason. Stories can come and go but I also have friends who have directly had issues with PayPal.

First friend is a web host. He accepts payments via PayPal. He once had a six month old account that he had to cancel as the user was selling pirated copies of Windows XP. He'd had emails off the Microsoft solicitors stating this, and to protect his own business naturally, he canceled the account. As per his terms and conditions, if you breach the various rules you will not get a refund especially considering the amount of hassle he went through as MS contacted the server centre first who just switched the server off leaving a couple of 100 sites offline.

So he canceled the account and informed the user why and that no refund would be given. So the user did a chargeback through PayPal, and despite my friend providing PP with letters from the MS solicitors to prove the issues and reasoning behind it all, PP still did the chargeback.

Another friend did some work for someone on the agreement that before the work (a forum skin) went live, the client would pay him via PP. All was agreed, payment came through. Luckily my friend withdrew this straight away. He put the forum skin up and left it at that. 2 weeks later PP contacted him about a chargeback from this client and the client had said that he'd paid for work that wasn't received. My friend proved to PP with screenshots showing the forum skin, the fact his name was in the copyright on the live site. PP just shrugged their shoulders and awarded the chargeback. However, as my friend's account was empty, the client couldn't get his money back, but my friend basically couldn't use his account as the minute he receives money into it, it will be sent to the other guy.

There's also been stories in the newspapers about people sending items they've sold on eBay (who PayPal own, or vice versa) after being paid via PP and then getting charged back with the end buyer saying they didn't receive the goods despite them having postal proof.

I've never personally had a problem with paypal but it's only a matter of time.

ouch, that chargeback thing is really a headache for sellers. And those people who knows that paypal easily grants chargeback can really exploit this.

i'm use only paypal. In the past, i'm used to regist in e-gold but since e-gold is available for gambling (head or tail game, etc..) i become lazy to use it anymore. Besidely, there is less merchant who accept e-gold. So, there is no reason for me to hold e-gold.

How about Alertpay?
Hmm same with e-gold, i find there is not too many merchant accepting AP for payment method. Besidely, my AP account is unverified yet since i can't give my address proof ( i have no bill under my name).

I just use paypal because it's easy to use, verified, and many merchant accept it as payment method
