Google Launches Video and Voice Chat for Gmail

You can now use video and calls via google chat in your browser. I use gmail and chat via google chat every now and then so this is great new.

Worth installing the small plugin it requires if you use google chat a lot.

Wow...this sounds cool. But idea is a bit stupid rather than neglecting their own Gtalk and adding features to Gmail and Gmail Chat. This feature should have been first released for Gtalk rather than Gmail Chat.

as far as i know google's idea for the future would be that you can search for something then have the option to make a call to them straight away with video if available. then this will become part of any site/s bit like skype but integrated with search so it is more powerful.

that screenshot really looks cool. Its nice that we can video chat directly from our browser without using any other software.

Google are certainly trying to take on the virtual world, is there anyeone else to compete with them? Apple and Nokie have a strong hold on the Phone market but Google have now launched their new phone for that market as well. is there anything Google don't do?

At the moment I still think Sony Ericsson and Nokia have the phone market tied up but who knows in 5-10 years. They have to start somewhere and whilst their new phone isn't the best phone out, it's definately a great phone so they're off to a great start.:D
