Hi Friends,
I am planning to migrate my blog (http://software-testing-zone.blogspot.com) to a custom domain [thanks to Kevin for the suggestion]. I am yet to register a domain name and I am looking for some good web hosting services with some good offers and quality uptime. Your suggestions are highly appreciated.

I'm pretty happy with hostmonster - $5/month. Check out startlogic at $4/month.

I host with http://www.lmh0sted.com Since i joined them they swept me off my feet the way they deal with billing and technical queries. They use ICQ messenger for billing and technical support 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Questions get answered almost instantaneously. I had a ton of questions that i bombarded billing and technical support with and they were so friendly and so eager to help me every step of the way. I never want to host with another hosting provider as there staff is a breeze to work with. I think there support staff is the best you will find on this planet and i am saying this because i have experienced them hands on so I'm saying this out of my experience dealing with them.

I recommend 1and1.com and ASmallOrange.com for new blogs. They're fairly cheap, and reliable enough for a new blog.
If you start major social media hits or anything like that you might want to move somewhere like Media Temple though. They're *very* stable, and offer quite a bit. They're a little pricey for new sites though.

Regarding 1and1.com - I have seen people complaining a lot about it and from the face of it, it does not seem good. Check Webhostingtalk.com forums for the proof. Hardly any one is happy with 1and1.com.
1and1 are atrocious, especially when you try to leave them.

I use Hostmonster. So far no problem but sometimes their live support take quit a long time to your turn.
I like especially their privacy protection on your domain name. $10 per domain including the privacy protection.
Other than support, everything seems ok for me. Unlimited space and domain name.
Use Hostgator before as well and their support is superb! However, price is a bit higher than Hostmonster. It all depends on what you want and what you expect.
Hope this helps!
