on the environment and climate change?
Do you believe it or not?
As there are some people on here from all over the globe im interested in your thoughts.

There's obviously some sort of climate change, but whether it's caused solely by humans or is partly natural who knows (well I don't!). Over the past centuries there's been major climate changes and the human contribution has been far less if at all at during those times.
Of course reducing your energy consumption, carbon emissions etc will usually be more beneficial to you financially anyway, and recycling waste where possible is also cheaper as it saves on bin bags (if you have a bin like ours that you just put all recyclable waste in). Composting is cheap and easy, and if you garden then it's great for growing fruit and veg.
There's good benefits to being environmentally friendly regardless of the bigger picture.

yes, there is recognizable climate change over these past years. And now, sometimes, you don't even have a clue what will happen to the weather. Sometimes, it's too cold and some other times, it's too hot. And in the times, that you are expecting to rain, you are always wrong. I don't know. It reminds me of the movie, "the day after tomorrow." i hope will not be like that. :D
do you think it is too late to do anything or is it never too late?
sarah you mention you recycle, does anyone else on here recycle?
Do you find it easy?
From what i understand every council is different in the uk and im sure it is the same abroad. Each coucil recycles differently to each other.

Recycling is easy when your council allows it. Down in Cardiff our council didn't recycle at the time and so everything went in one bag. I wouldn't have a clue where to take anything to recycle them besides bottles to the bottle bank at the supermarket.
Where we lived last year we were supplied with 2 boxes, one for paper, one for cardboard and glass, and also bags for cans, tins and plastics. Everything we recycled we could (with that triangle logo on). We also had a compost bin there and all raw food waste would go in that along with grass cuttings and leaves.
Now, we get one large wheelie bin for recycling. In there goes glass, paper, plastic bottles with the tops removed (and the tops go in too, don't ask me why they have to be removed), cans (but not overly crushed), tins and cardboard. We cannot put plastic boxes in, plastic packaging etc. which is quite weird. We also have a brown bin for garden waste.
At my parents they have a box for glass, a box for papers and a box for cans and plastics. Their cardboard isn't taken however, and they have no garden waste collection, but my dad composts everything and they have the space to do it so that's fine for him.
So yes, different councils, different methods. I think it depends on the contractors that are hired to deal with the recycled waste.
i never knew you were into recyling, it is good to hear :)

Of course. Whenever it's an option we'll recycling.
Bear in mind, I grew up in Germany where recycling was already widespread in the early 90s, and in Austria, if you don't recycling they get really wound up over it! Our landlady went through our rubbish once and pulled out every single thing that should have been recycled!
maybe going through your rubbush was a bit voer the top but its great to see some countries taking it seriously. it seems in britain it is more of a fad. i would like to see more trying to do their bit

Councils really need to help out though. Make it easier to recycle and people will.

I think it's still too early to determine if it's purely man made or if the cycle is nature but one thing is for sure, the temps are going up and something weird all around is going on.

and i think the concern here now is not about if it's man made or just the nature. In some sort, humans are also responsible in these happenings. Maybe it's because of our ignorance in the effect of our actions or maybe we just don't care. But the thing is, if there is still way to prevent to worst, let us just cooperate. :p

it's freezing here this morning! ;)
I'd say in most of the UK we don't get the heat in the summers but our winters are not majorly cold either (well if it snows it lasts for a few days and goes again). It's only the high mountain peaks and up in Scotland that gets snow for longer periods.

How can we disturb nature to the extent that we have without having made an impact? Whether or not climate change is one of them remains to be seen, but I think that cleaning up our act is just plain good sense. It can be easy, cost effective, and healthy :-) We don't necessarily have to turn our lives upside down, but if everyone did a small part, the cummulative effect would make a difference.

I'd just like to add that it's been snowing in most of the UK since i wrote my above comment, except where I live (although I'm about 10 minutes from the sea so it's not a surprise, salt in the air and all that).

I wish such recyling facilities would have been here in India...Here people are highly ignorant and never bother to do recycle. Half of India may not even know the benefits of recyling. We just know that we can throw our waste anywhere and a servant will come and pick it and throw in dustbin for us.
Though there are shops where we dump our old things(Not garbage but household items like paper, furniture) but I wonder how much of that is properly recycled because there is no transparency on that.
I was watching something recently which showed in india that some people buy rubbish from people then sell it on

I think we all (human) are too much selfish, so there must be some strict rules to protect nature and as well as climate.

There's observably some form of climate change, and we are looking it for past some years. You don't even have an intimation what will happen to the weather. Climate change is really an issue here on our place.
Weather forecasters were really bothered on what's
going on. And they have noticed a big difference unlike
last years climate. They worry for it seems like it isn't normal
for, this past few months of 2009, tragic heavy storms and different
climate change have occured and it's not normal.
That is why, they stayed focus on finding out why
these things happened. Maybe these changes were signs
that we people should really be careful and see to it that
were not harming the environment.

I think the weather is changing a lot, turns crazy some days and I'm afraid about that we should learn about being an ecologist
