The toolbar PR is only updated every so often. It just sounds like you put the site up before the new update went through.

If you read the article that Kevin linked to in another thread about how Google PR works you'll see that PR is continually calculated, it's just the public PR that gets updated every few months. Also, the public PR is usually very much out of date, so you could already be on PR 2 or 3.

But don't get too hung up on PR and just concentrate on creating good content. The backlinks will come in time then.

yeah I understand but Time is money, I cant wait to get this blog to PR3 and above so That I mean bsuiness.its been hard four months for me from a noob to becoming a rookie. The learning curve is sometimes frustrating and time consuming!!

That is the reason why I appear without any patience..Patience is a virtue that I would like to develop:(

Well you could be waiting anywhere from 3 to 6 months for the next PR update. Last year they took over 6 months to release a new update.

I can understand a lack of patience. It's not necessarily bad, as it will motivate you to continue working on the site until you see a return which is a good thing :)

it's sarahG who said that, and i think it's not wrong. Yes, many people effort to reach PR but PR is not indicator your site to be have a lot of traffic, because PR is just about link....
You can have many link but even your site is have no PR, it's no problem because people is looking for content, not for the PR

It doesn't mean absolutely nothing. Advertisers place an emphasis on it so we can't completely ignore it whilst it's staring in our faces, however I try to make people aware that they shouldn't get hung up on PR as it's such an inaccurate measure really.

Your PR is simply a combination of how many other sites are linking to you along with their varying PR. Obviously it's more complicated than this but think of it as site * PR = value. So 2 sites with PR 2 is of less value than 1 site at PR 5 (as I say, it's not that simple but it's a basic example).

If you set up a new site and link to it from a couple of other sites with a semi decent PR then it's not unlikely that on the next PR update the new site will have either the same or just one less PR than the sites that you linked to it from. Which I highly recommend, not for the PR but it's easier and quicker to get indexed in the search engines by being linked from established sites.

However, once you've done this quick job, your next job is to build content. If you build good content, have a well set up site (if it's a blog make sure it's pinging all the right sites), and the search engines will come. Once you're confident with your content then, and only then, should you start to look at commenting on other sites, perhaps getting a few links in from other sites, blog directories etc, but don't spend all your time doing this, stick with the content and just allow the links to build up gradually.

I realise patience is the key but most of the top sites out there have been around for a while. My own blog has been going for 4.5 years, and I've never created any sort of 'link campaign'. I leave comments on sites that interest me, I'm active on 3 major forums, and I write content or create plugins that people like and link back to. Also, if you link to others in your content, eg. you're writing about a plugin, link to the plugin page and the author's main page, you can potentially draw the author in to your site. If you actively link out in your posts then you'll attract the people you're linking to and usually you'll attract more people linking in to you from their posts.

Oops, sorry I've gone a bit off topic there, still, it's all helpful (I hope!)

wow. September? that's only one month. I started my new blog just a week ago and was hoping t get a PR on the next update. By the way, does somebody know when will be the next PR update. Is it regular. How often Google updates a year?

It's not fixed about when google will update PR. Some people said that google PR update is every 3 month, but in previous update, it's not 3 month since google 2 previous update. What you must do know is always keep attention on it, and always promote your blog using legal method, and you'll get PR increasing in your site.
