This weeks question is quite straight forward :

"What niche would you like to see more themes developed for?"

As always, I think it's important that things are kept fair and competitive :

There is no limit to the number of suggestions you can make.
Ideas/Suggestions should be original ie. don't just copy someone elses idea and try and claim it as your own :)
Deadline for entries is 12pm ET Tuesday December 2nd 2008

On Tuesday December 2nd 2008 Nate will choose what he believes to be the best suggestion.

Good luck :)

Kevin

Seems nobody wants to win this prize? I want more themes to be developed for Video Blogging....which are plainly video blogs...with very little text scope and should support multiple videos from youtube and other video sites, rating and commenting system and video sharing.

I agree with nav videoblogs are the new 'in' thing and should be catered to.

Also as wordpress functionality is growing so quick...maybe templates to cater to arcade type sites...i.e. quick easy flash and and java integration.

One thing I have had issues with is displaying code in wordpress...and this may be a more a function of a plugin etc but easy code formatting in templates...ie catered to people who publish code snippets and quick downloads of these codes.

One idea I have been playing with is a more ajax based theme (i know tis not a niche) but basicly where the 'content' area is the only area that is 'dynamic' and he rest is static....ie all the sidebars and header footer etc...thus in my mind reducing load times and resource requirements. PLus a nice page flick effect with the ajax...

Thats all for now will type up some more when i got a few more mins free

I would say themes designed more for product selling. Perhaps say themes designed to allow for blogging but also perhaps a section for selling templates, or eBooks, scripts/software etc. I'm not saying there's a need for additional plugins here, simply a well thought out theme where someone can blog and also have say a category called 'shop' and can easily upload images (via the media uploader) and do a post per product. Perhaps add in the PayPal code too then just get the user to add their paypal address in to the wp_config.php file, and then it pulls it in from there.

A lot of people want to sell products, or maybe affiliate products online, but a lot lack the knowledge of how to set the site up and never actually make it as they can't afford the investment to get past the first step.

I don't really like the idea of niche themes. Web is sum of XHTML and CSS, theme should be sum of code and design.

Flexible color schemes, "featured" zones that can be easily filled with any type of content, highlighting popular and pillar posts, good navigation and it would fit any niche easily.

Well, my wish list would include a theme that focuses on e-commerce. It's kind of rare to see themes in that particular niche if you ask me. I hope the Santas from UBD are listening... ;-)

While my business blogs are static in their design year round, on my personal blog I like to change it up during holidays and special events worth supporting. During Christmas, I'll change to an appropriate theme. Same goes for Independence Day. During October, I'll change the theme to an all pink one to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

When I put up my Christmas theme last week, I found it less appealing than last year. I went looking for a new one and found a dearth of good Christmas themes.

How about a set of really good designed themes for holidays and special and charity events?
