To me its just childrens books and childrens films
Why are so many adults into Harry Potter?
I mean I loved Roald Dahl as a kid but I wouldn't go out of my way to read any of them now that ive grown up.
Am I being a little cynical or am I perhaps missing something? The whole HP faze has got me confused!

The movies really suck, but the books are really readable if you've got some spare time :D

I've always wondered that myself. I don't get it.

I think so too. The whole magic thing are for kids and I don't really understand why some adults are so into it.

Don't knock it 'til you try it ;)
I read the first book years ago just to try it out. I think I was 23 at the time so still not a kid. I'm not too big into science fiction or fantasy, but the way the story was written, it could really just appeal to both children and adults. It's a great story.

I heard the same argument at the weekend at the pub - lol. I actually love sci-fi films and books but this isn't for me, perhaps its because all the main characters are kids eg. lord of the rings is fantasy but isnt put into the kids bracket
No one has told me yet if he has died though!:D

I'm not going to add spoilers in case I get banned
I'm not usually into fantasy tales but I like HP because it's escapism, it's well-written, original and familiar at the same time (classic hero-myth stuff), and each book is darker than the last. That's all.

lol - I love HP! :D
It's not the kids book that it sometimes get stereotyped as. At least, the last 4 aren't. (The first 2-3 are certainly "young adult" at best...)
Out of all of the books I've read, I'm yet to find a better written one, with a deeper plot than HP4-7 have had. 7 was probably the best book I've ever read. It just never stopped. Heck, I want to read it again now! :p

the book is a good read, well-written and impressive plot twist. but i guess the phenomenon went on because a lot of people were so carzy about it. :)

I'm afraid if I started reading the first one I wouldn't be able to put it down. Then I would have to read the next 6. Just don't have a month to kill these days. :D

lol - It would be a month gained, not killed! :D
I have a few more books to read, but after that I want to go through HP1-7 in a row. It will be great to read the early books and spot the things which would become so pivotal in the later ones.
