Ok this really isn't a problem at the moment, but it is an annoyance. So for my blog I'm recycling a website that I used to have. The goal of the original site was a forum to help connect people across various high school campuses in my county. But now I'm writing a political blog. From time to time I come across various things associated with my first use of my domain name.

So here's what's going on:
First, I'm hosting with godaddy. Second, my domain name is marin-forum.com. When I do a google search for "marin-forum.com" it shows up as the first entry, but it says something like this:
"A PLACE FOR MARIN TEENS
The purpose of this site is blah blah blah"

Obviously I need to change that. You can check it out for yourself if its unclear what I mean.

How do I change what the entry says when doing a google search?

If you check the cache of the Google result - http://66.102.9.104/search?q=cache:-mnJNgRa8HYJ:www.marin-forum.com/+marin-forum.com&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&client=firefox-a you'll see that the last time Googlebot cached your site was on 2nd May. You've only recently changed your front page so you'll need to be patient for Google to come along and re-read the site and update its cache and subsequently the index results.

You may want to download and add the Google Sitemaps plugin for WordPress - http://www.arnebrachhold.de/projects/wordpress-plugins/google-xml-sitemaps-generator/ and get that installed and then submit it to Google via your Webmaster Tools account (if you don't have one sign up for one at https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/) where you can monitor your site, when it was last cached, submit your XML sitemap, keep a check on other issues too.

Otherwise it's just a matter of patience. It shouldn't be long before the search engines spot the change and will refresh the site in their index.

thanks! Yea I thought there was something I had to do on my end. I thought I remembered doing something else when I first set up the website...but that was over 2 years ago.
