Blogspot is a good software. The availability of adsense is really great. No need to pay for anything. Plus, it is easy to edit. Templates are very much available too.

I started using blogspot just because it was the first thing I came accross. I am new to blogging all together. It is really easy to use because I knew nothing about anything and made it happen. It's a learning experience for me, kind of like training. I have considered getting my own domain name but don't know if I am experienced enough to make the leap. Besides I need to think of a good name.

If you are new to blogging, I personally recommend using blogger blogspot platform. User friendly interface, you can learn a lot about layouts, and start monetizing immediately, most of the ad programs are available for this platform.

Blogspot is a good stepping stone. Or, if you really want to learn, browse over some forum threads first. Try to see the comments on different blog platforms and from there, you'll know what to do.

I agree completely, but blogspotting for more than a couple of months is a waste of your time unless your blog is a personal journal(you're not looking to make monetary profit from it)

I think the two main reasons Blogger has so many reasons are:

1. It's easy to use
2. It's free!

Sure Blogger gets a lot of flack from those who prefer Wordpress, but many of us prefer to use it.

Blogger is easier to use, I think, and I prefer the text editor... but, overall, I prefer Wordpress. I'm personally not that fond of blogger's themes. :\

Personally I like Blogger better than Wordpress, I have both but moved one blog away from Wordpress to Blogger. My reasons, it is easy, it is free, it gives me the scope I want to do things my way. I am not too bothered about templates because I like to do things myself, but there are plenty of blogger templates available if you want them. My final reason, my readers like it because it is easy for them to comment without providing loads of info.

I started with blogger because that is one of the tips I read to easily get an Adsense account. I find it easy to use but I can't submit the URL of my blog to some search engines because it's just a sub domain name and that makes it harder for me to promote my blogger blogs.

My first blog was on blogger. That's where I learned all about html at. Keep in mind this was a few years ago, and it was before they integrated with having a google account. I've checked out a lot of different blogging sites since then, but I keep going back to blogspot. Maybe it's a bit of nostalgia I don't know. lol

I also use blogger platform for my blogs. These days some stunning themes are coming out for blogger powered blogs.

Because this is very simple platform and easily to be learned. Just with 3 step, you can have your own blog. Is also easy to accepted if we wanna play adsense. Well, i never use other platform but blogspot always...!!!!

I choose blogspot because of the interface of it.. to a newbie blogger like me i think it is much better to understand IMO..

and the availability of adsense is the last option why I choose wordpress.. I am not on to earnings before I am just enjoying how visitors came into my blogs and found some information from it.. I added adsense after six months.

Yeah, same with you. Free wordpress, even it have more good template but i can't add adsense into it. But with blogger, you can put adsense so easily because there is already a menu to add it.

I used blogspot because I started blogging three years ago at that time I was just looking to have fun blogging than make money!1 So I was searching how I can express myself on the internet, I searched using my good friend google and there it was something called blogger popped on the screen. I clicked the link and in a minute I had a website. It was easier to use as it looked like a text editor to me!!

Its not a waste of time completely. People are earning thousands even from their blogspot blogs. Recently a blog was listed for sale on DP which is hosted on blogspot and bids have reached over $300 for it since it currently earns approx $10 per day from Adsense alone.

Also remember that Labnol.org was hosted for 2-3 years on blogspot only before it shifted to wordpress. It also makes millions of moolah every year though income is never revealed but it must be a 6 figure to boast of.

yeah, both blogspot and other platform is same, if you make it great by fullfiling it by great quality content, promote it, make the rank high, i think it will make an earning for you. Even it's blogger blog, just like navjotsingh said.

whatever platform you use, there's always a possibility of success.. If you give dedication and hardwork to learn and improvise, you can be successful in any field, not only blogging.

@athlon24
I'm 100% agree with you, it's no problem with platform, it's about content, one more time, content :D....
People love content :D...
Let me ask for the proof, which one you looking for when visiting some site? Content or the looks ?

athlon24

For me, I look for the design and everything. The ads should must also fit in the design. If there are more ads than content, I'm quite sure that the owner of the site just wants to gain more. There's nothing wrong in earning, that's one of our reason in blogging, but at least, the site must contain the information that I want. Actually, when the site I landed is full of ads, I immediately push the back button. :D

yeah of course, me too, if there is a blog which fulfilled with only ads, i will close it.
Back to topic, blogspot, do you agree, blogspot is more popular since merged with google?
