When someone takes the time to comment on your blog do you return the visit to their blog and leave a comment on one of their posts?

I reply to every comment in my blog and also in all the places where I guest post or freelance. I visit the blog of the commentator and read the posts and if anything is really nice, I will take time to give a valuable comment.

Yes almost I try to comment back to them and at the very least I will take a look at their blog and read some of their articles and try and leave comments.

Yes, I do visit back the commenter's blog, and try leave comments there, but only if I've something valuable to say.

Rose I have been trying to communicate with you through telepathy. Something seems to be blocking my thoughts.

Actually I have been meaning to make it over to Blogger Talk more to join in your conversations over there. Work, Blogging and life make me really busy these days. :-) I did give you a link a few days ago. Which was a pretty successful post since it got Stumbled pretty good. http://www.successforyourblog.com/12-forums-for-bloggers

I'll try not to miss your comments in the future. :o

I try too but I have been posting so many comment on people blogs that have been submitted at blogengage I just don't have time for my own blogs anymore. I try to post a reply to every blog that's submitted. Unless I'm really not interested in the topics :)

Occasionally I do, although it's impossible if you get a lot of comments.

Is returning comments really necessary? I mean, they didn't comment on your post to have theirs commented on too, right?

Its always such a pleasant surprise to have a new person comment to my blog, that I of course review their blog and make my own return observations---and if I find that they're blog is compatible with my eclectic interests--I add thier blog link to my page.

annetokhien, I think returning comments is necessary. After all if someone takes the time to comment on my blog I'm going to take the time to visit theirs and comment.

Sometimes, it depends on the content found within the comment. Generally, I'll visit the commenters website to see if he/she and I are interested in the same subjects. Then, I'll check out a blog post or two and I'll leave a comment or two.

I just submitted to your directory ( thedripp.blogspot.com)
and joined your forum and I subscribed to your blog. I am all
about reciprocity and building great forums and communities!

Well thank you. I'll see that your link gets approved and feel free to comment on my blog. Now I'm off to visit yours.

I try to respond to every comment in some way. I think it's a nice thing to do for the people who are dedicated to reading your blog, and they appreciate it. Even just a general blog entry, rather than a comment to each person, that's personalized to the people who read your stuff...

If you personally interact with your readers, they're more likely to return.

I do it frequently, since I have a lot of time on my hands. Sometimes I pay their own blog a visit and comment on theirs, and if it's relevant to my own, I'll link to them.

It depends on what their comment was.

If it is a sales pitch or an offer for a link trade, I will look at their blog to see if it fits my criteria. If it doesn't, they never hear from me.

If their blog is compatible with, but not competing with, my blog, I will comment and set up a link trade.

I do respond to comments.

But then again if there isn't an article on the users blog i feel I can add to I will usually email them if they've left a contact address :)

I reply to the comment within my comments, then I also make a point to go to their blog as well and make a comment. It helps to form an online relationship with the person. I didn't used to return comments on my blog, and would only comment on their blogs. But I learned that if I returned the comment (especially if it's a question) then the relationship forms faster, and the commenter is more likely to come and visit more often.

I try to reply to all comments just because I know that this is something that will get me to come back to a blog. As far as I'm concerned the extra time spent even just acknowledging the comments can have a major impact on traffic in the future.
