Does posting every day really increase your blogs popularity? There are some blogs that post Monday, Weds, Fri, and have success. If you can't bring your best material every day, would it be better to pair it down to three days a week?

Itīs important to find your personal posting frequency (http://www.marcorichter.net/blogging/how-to-start-blogging-in-5401-words.html#frequency) and stick to it. If you can manage to post daily, do it. If your time does only allow 3 posts a week, itīs ok too, but you have to find a frequency for yourself and keep that up.

Many blogs start out with posting 3 times a day for two weeks or so and then - nothing. Thatīs really bad.

Look at some of the top bloggers on technorati. They normally post 3-5 posts per day so I would definitely say it helps.

it is more quality and consistency than quantity.

there are many disadvantages of not posting regularly (http://thirdworldchaos.blogspot.com/2007/10/drawbacks-of-not-posting-blog-regularly.html) so the main thing is you should have 1 post almost everyday in my view. because simply, 1 popst everyday means many more posts which means more chance on search engines and more traffic. i m getting traffic on this simple formula n this may work to you too.

For me, visiting blogs that have new content on a reliable schedule will keep me coming back, as long as it's not obvious the person is struggling to get fresh info out there.

I mean, you could have a poetry blog, and post once a week, and if I liked it, I'd be there every weekend. But something more topical, it looks like you aren't keeping up.

I think the biggest thing would be not giving the impression that the blog is dead!

You shouldn't post just for the sake of posting, but if you have quality information to post, then you should post as often as possible.

I typically post anywhere from 8-15 posts per day 6 days a week.

I have decided to post daily for several reasons. First, I've always got plenty to say and I always want there to be fresh content on my blog. Since I'm in the process of relocating to a new city and don't yet have a job (my wife was transferred), I have TONS of time. We're living in a hotel, so I have nothing to do...blogging is perfect and daily works for me.

That's a good decision randomthinker. Google will also be able to index your blog from time to time since you always update it.

Originally, my idea was to post just Mon-Friday, but I'm finding that I have more content than that to post. I'm struggling with whether I should simply compress my ideas into higher quality content on 5 days, rather than spreading it out over Mon-Sat.

i really guess it depends on if the added content would make the posts better or just longer, because those are mutually exclusive terms even in niche blogging.

I would say don't add the content but rather write the extra posts for future release. The more posts you make the more potential people you are going to draw. Even a lot of really bad posts are going to draw organic traffic to your site from search engines just because of the numbers game. That isn't saying you should write bad posts, but if you have enough content for a good post use it for a post that automatically posts on the weekend or hell even on Monday and take a three day weekend.

Alternately there is nothing wrong with making multiple posts a day either, it is another sure way to draw in people to your blog and if you are using any sort of eCPM program it is well worth it to make multiple posts in a day. On one of my blogs 1 post gets me a 100 page views consistently, 2 posts is roughly 230 page views, 3 almost 400 page views. Your numbers and ratios will likely be different, but you can guarantee more posts per day = more page views

Although you should post to your blog as often as necessary, I've seen people be successful with publishing one article a day. The rule of thumb here is QUALITY vs QUANTITY. 1 awesome post is better than 5 mediocre posts.

i really think that posting daily will help a lot. but maybe it also depends on your posts, if it is really interesting. because having a popular blog isn't based on how much u do blogs in a day but on its content.

If you want to post every day but can only manage to post filler, then don't. It's as simple as that. As Jeffro said, quality has to win out every time over quantity. Yes, it helps to keep the search engines coming back if your blog is always fresh but you should be writing with your readers at the forefront of your mind, not the search engines. As the saying goes, content is king. A great post every few days is a much better route to take if you're struggling.

I rather post when I feel like I want to, not just to post something. I know I've lost some readers, but that comes with the territory! So, I'm ok with it.

Best to post every few days or so, the blog isn't your lifeblood and people wont die from you not posting. I hardly ever post on mine, I lose interest in blogging damn fast.

If you have the time the more posting the better I think. For me I can only manage the time to post a few times a week but if I could make it work I would be posting every day or several times a day.

It really depends on the way you write and your subject matter.

If your posts are long and rather detailed, you might get away with once a week or less, like every other week, giving time for your readers to absorb the information. Between those long posts, shorter entries that reinforce the information work well.

If your posts are short and the information less complex, several times a day might be fine.

It really depends on your style, goals, and audience.

You can post two articles every two weeks if you like. The important thing is that you have to stay up with your posting frequency for your blog to get some readers. If you posting 7 days a week from the start then go less than that as you go further then your readers might loss some interest.

Just thought of this, if you post every day, then your fans will expect you to do that every day, which is just a huge hassle. Posting too regularly with no error in timing will result in them just expecting it. Not a good thing, trust me.

That's a fair point, Dartz. What I like about Wordpress is that you can write blog posts and date them in advance. They won't publish until that day but do so automatically. It's great for me because when I write, I usually am on a roll and can churn out a lot of posts at once.

All I ever had to do was date them ahead of time and there they'll be on my blog when that day rolls around, without me having to do anything else or remember to go back and activate them. I don't know if other blogs offer that option, but to me it's priceless.

That's a good point, Dartz. It also really depends on what type of blog you have. For certain ones, posting every day/nearly every day isn't a huge hassle, but if your content is entirely original and involves more words than pictures (;D) then I usually expect about 2 posts a week. If you wait to long, people will look for content elsewhere and forget about ya..

I have decided that for starters I post about 2-3 times a week. Because of the number of blogs that are already out there, it's difficult to find new things to write about. However, I try to remember that I can always put a fresh spin on something simply by adding my perspective to it.

As for bringing your best material, when I was a rookie journalist, I was having writer's block on this one story. A veteran reporter told me that I shouldn't try to write Pulitzer Prize winning stuff every time and that it's all right for a story to be average once in a while. So, that's the approach I take. And, besides, with a blog, if you don't like the way it's written the first time, you can always publish it and edit it later on.

I think it is best to post daily, but as others have said posts need to be well written and interesting. If you do not post daily it helps if you have a regular routine for posting and that your readers know your posting schedule so that they will not have to keep checking back needlessly.

I think it is better to post your good posts 3 days a week rather than having to write everyday but not good enough information.

is 10 - 20 post per day bad for the blog?
