iPod Video Nano Blog Contest

Hey everyone since we were talking about using contests to promote blogs last week I though why not give it a go and try one out.

Since I bought an iPhone when they were $600, Apple gave me a $100 in store credit. I figured I'd spend another $50 and get a cool piece of Apple gadgetry to give away on my blog. So I picked up a 4GB Ipod Video Nano.

48 hour update on the Free iPod Video Nano give away.

Well I had no idea it was this hard to give away a free Nano. Maybe people are skeptical and just think there are too many dishonest people out there.

In the first 48 hours I have only about 5 people registered for the contest. Seems that that is less than .001 percent of those coming to the blog.

Time to promote it more.

Thanks everyone that has joined. The contest is going good. The FedEx guy showed up on Wednesday with the iPod so its already for shipping. If you haven't had an opportunity yet there is still plenty of time to enter.

As I stated at the beginning of the contest I want to provide you all with details as the contest goes on.

So far about 30 entries have been submitted for the contest. 1 in 30 odds are pretty good. :) I expect about double that by the end of the contest.

I have also been Stumbled in the last week which brought in an extra 288 new uniques.

My technorati rank went up due to people favoriting the site.

The number of RSS subscribers have also gone up by about 33% this week.

So far my impression of using a contest to promote your blog is very beneficial. At the end of the contest I will post the CPM of spending $160 on an iPod to give away (wil be a pretty good guess based on where visitors are coming from) . Hopefully this will help you all out a little bit in determining if a contest is right for your blog.

For anyone wondering if contests are a good idea, my answer would be yes. I got a bunch of links back to the blog and a good amount of traffic and subscribers.

Anyway giving away $150 state of the art gadget is worth it for the amount of traffic you get. Just make sure you are ready to promote your contest on contest blogs, forums, and other blog contacts that you have.
