I purchased the new Personal theme and uploaded it to my test site. I encountered two problems so far:

cannot change author picture
cannot remove 'Categories' widget

I tried all types of pictures, even tried directly editng the authorpic.php file, all to no avail. If the picture of the VW Bug changed, it changed to a red X.
As for the Categories widget, it was not showing under any sidebar, but was there whether I split the sidebar or moved it left to right.

Hi James,

I assume you mean change author picture and not remove it altogether. To change the picture you just need to go to the personal theme options section in your admin area. Then click on the design and appearance section.

You should then see the Custom Background and Author images area. From there you can either enter the url of your profile picture or upload a picture directly. Make sure you reupload authorpic.php to make sure you haven't changed anything incorrectly.

With regards to categories, I am using the theme on my personal blog and have categories displayed ok. Remember to check that the categories box is selected in your widgets area.

Hope this helps you out. If not, please let me know and I'll do my best to help you asap :):)

Hi Kevin,
Just to rule out any problems, I completey wiped the 'test' WP install at my hosting service and reinstalled it, then uploaded the Personal theme. Same problems exist: The author image file uploads correctly, but does not display.
The Categories widget still appears even though both sidebar areas in the Widget dashboard are empty of any widgets. I am not opposed to having a Categories widget, I would like control over where it appears and how it displays, though. ;)

Hi James,

The sidebar is set up to use widgets but is coded so that categories are displayed if no widgets are added. The minute you add a widget the categories should disappear.

If you would prefer to remove though you just need to remove it from the sidebar.php template (if you are unsure how please let me know).

With regards to the author picture, I'm not 100% sure what's going wrong there. Would you mind private messaging me the url of your blog and a temporary admin login and password so that I can look at what's wrong. I should be able to spot what's wrong right away by looking at the admin area and templates etc. Worst case scenario, if there's a bug that I didn't find through the testing phase I'll fix it as soon as possible :)

Please note that I will no longer support issues that users have with Artiseer themes and Calendar.

Poorly thought out and unnecessary CSS is used out of the box with this theme designer resulting in edits being required to get the Calendar widgets to display properly.

Seeing as Artiseer is a paid for product I feel that they should be spending the time supporting this kind of issue and not me.

Word to the wise - z-index is something you add the gain an effect, not something you include by default.
