Utilizing Social Networking Sites

I don't have enough time to "work a social networking site" like the blog tip sites say. Is there anyway to use them to get a useful amount of visitors without making friends with everyone on the site?

I have found that making friends and letting them know about your blog is not really a good tactic. A better way is to join a group, especially one that may be relevant to what your blog is about, and periodically let the group as a whole know about something you have posted that they may be interested in. Just be careful not to over do it or it will be regarded as SPAM.

Although don't get me wrong, you should also include the information about your blog in your profile. I just would concentrate on getting one friend at a time to tell about your blog.
