What is your opinion on HostGator hosting? It's been almost a year since my registration and I had no problems. Should I make a big decision and pay in advance for 3 or 5 years?

Did you had any problems with them? I would like to know this because I am about to purchase some more domains and need to be sure it's a good step.

I dont know too much about them. However, I would never pay that much in advance for hosting. Their service might get worse or you might need a bigger server. There really is no need to pay that far in advance because you dont know what they will be like and you dont know what your needs will be

I'm with Kevin on this one. Your never more than a million pageviews a month from needing a dedicated server. Paying several years in advance may seem like a savings but it could end up just costing you in the long run.

By the way I have been using Hostgator for a couple years now and service has been really good.

I'm looking for a reliable host that has good support. My current web host sucks when it comes to support. Sometimes it can take more than a day before I get a reply when I submit a ticket. Plus, the cramp their servers with so many accounts that other users suffer when one account hogs the resources.

@jblanton - as a blogger, can you recommend them to a fellow blogger? I wanna know if Hostgator has good support and uptime. Thanks!

I moved to HostGator from AN Hosting and I couldn't be more pleased. I have tried several hosting companies over the years and HostGator is absolutely the best.

I did a lot of research before switching this time, and if your hosting a Wordpress blog HostGator really is top notch.

They will move your entire website over to your new hosting account for free, which takes the hassle out of moving a site.

AN Hosting is the worst hosting company in the known universe.

I don't recommend paying more than a year in advance for any hosting.

The nice thing about HostGator is that you can try them out for just penny with a coupon: http://www.hostingdiary.com/2007/09/web-hosting-cou.html

Why do want to renew your contract for 5 years. This is too large amount. i think it will be better to have a one year deal and later if you are satisfied, go with another one year. Because so that in case if you have any problems, so that you can easily come out with a minimal loss. As far as hostgator i have never heard any problems.
