I read on ProBlogger where you can make a post say 2 weeks before an event (ex: Super Bowl) and put a lot of relavent keywords in it then the day after when people might be searching for Super Bowl MVP, you could make a post about it and link the two posts together and get a good search engine ranking. Have any of you tried it? Does it work?

havent heard about it but it sounds like a good idea

many websites use this kind of tactic to get exposure during large events :)

I've heard about that kind of trick before, and it does work sometimes. But you'd need to do it a lot sooner than just 2 weeks beforehand.

Plus, once you have the page at number 1, why not change that page to have the content that the people are looking for? It would work even better then. :)

I'm wondering if this could work for a sports news website. I could have a preview done a week earlier, link it from another of my websites(or just change my sig in one of the forums to give it backlinks), and by the time the match is over and people are searching for reviews and highlights, I'd have a decent ranking for that keyword, and change the preview post into a review post.

Looks far-fetched eh?
