I have noticed that most of my visitors come from Google image search. Are there any tips on how to improve your ranking there?

very good question
I've never had much traffic from google images so its not something I've looked into much though I recognise its a very good sometimes untapped source of traffic
heres 2 articles I found pretty quickly through google

Thanks for those articles. I use images in almost all of my posts so I need to make sure I optimize for this.

This is a very interesting thread.
I remember a friend blogger who mentioned to me that he used to get a lot of readers because of the images he posted. He said that this was because of the Image Description and the "alt" in the code where you could place your desired keyword.
I learned a lot from him and used it in my old blog. :)

I am too tired to read the articles tonight but will tomorrow. It's funny because when I see traffic coming from Google images I thought people were trying to "steal" my pics! LOL. So maybe after reading the articles I will feel differently. *SmiLes* Suzanne

Nice suggestions out there. As expected from Maki, of course. I will try to implement these ideas because most of my post have an image from flickr.

Getting actual traffic via images is harder than it seems.
When you search for an image, you get the results then click to view a larger version. It loads the image in the top frame and the site that has the image in the bottom frame. At the point your server has counted a visitor, however, they're not really on your site yet. You need to convert them from seeing the image in the top frame to visiting your site in the bottom frame.

you should post many images in your website..the image name and its tag line gets attracted by google bots and hence you get traffic from it when people search something related to your image's name..thank you!!

yes, google crawlers can find and you are going to optimize it using alt tags. Read the two articles the the thread starter posted and you will have a better idea. Maki, from DoshDosh gave lots of valuable tips.
