Hey Gang,

I have just created a blog for my company and I have a question. When referring to a post from another blog, what is the appropriate way to post it?

Should I just say "Interesting post HERE" or can I cut and paste the post with a lead in that says, "Here's an interesting post from the XYZBlog" with XYZBlog being hyperkinked.

I am sure this is a question not worthy of this forum, but I have had trouble finding the answer elsewhere.

Thanks,

RF

You can post a link, and if necessary an excerpt for some purposes under certain circumstances. You need to have a read up on copyright (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright), fair use (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use) and fair dealing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_law_of_the_United_Kingdom#Fair_dealing_a nd_other_exceptions).

ap4a is exactly right. Posting an excerpt of about 100 words max is okay, but generally you want to put a link in your articles with the title of the article you are linking to. They will appreciate it and so will you.

I know this is a bit more work ... but you can also click through to the post/article and check the page title ... that will show you what they have optimized that article for and you could also post using that with a link back to the article. So if the post title was, "How to Add 10,000 Twitter Followers in a Week," but the page title was "Add New Twitter Followers" you could use that term as the anchor text for the link ... *SmiLes* Suzanne ... it's even easier if you're linking to someone's home page.
