I am a newbie blogger with a small start-up consultancy. I plan to start a regular blog (focused on matters relating to my industry sector) as a means of augmenting my business's web presence, and eventually building the business's brand. Should I blog with a pseudonym, or my real name? And when posting comments on other's blogs?

If you're going to be blogging to help market your business then I would go with your real name. For commenting elsewhere, it would depend whether you want to be directly linked with your business or possibly assumed as a separate entity. If you want to be connected within your comments then again, stick with your real name. If you want to give the idea that you may not be affiliated with the company then use a nickname.

You can use your company name as your username as long as it doesn't appear like you are advertising. People tend to ignore you if you use a "spammy username". Another option is to use your profession like: "marriagecounselor" or "businessmentor". But the safest is to use your real name.

Thank you Sarah and Bea - I'm clear about that now.
