Like most blogs, BloggingTips gets it’s fair share of spam. It’s a real pain in the ass but up until now it’s not been a major hassle for me.

At the start of this blog’s life Akismet was catching just about every spam comment which was left. A few months ago I was getting 2 or 3 spam comments left on posts. This didn’t really bother me, I simply marked those comments as spam. Unfortunately, the last few weeks the spam at BloggingTips has been crazy. Akismet is still catching some…

I am pleased to announce that the Blogging MarketPlace is now online at BloggingTips.com.

What is the Blogging MarketPlace?

The marketplace is a simple classifieds facility which allows bloggers to place advertisements for writing jobs, banner ad sales and more.

Currently, there are 5 categories :

• Advertising - For Sale - Advertise your remaining banner and text links for sale.
• Advertising - Wanted - Put an ad advertising the type of blog or website you are looking to advertise on.
• Link & BlogRoll Exchange - I hope this will be useful but fingers crossed it won’t be abused!
• Writing Positions…

After 7 months we have finally crawled over the 1,000 subscriber mark. RSS feed growth has been a bit slower than I would have liked recently but I’m hoping that reaching 4 digits will help encourage more people to subscribe (ie. feed counts tend to grow exponentially if the blog is still being updated).

I mentioned at the end of last month that I would be selling advertising here soon. More and more emails have been coming into my inbox asking about advertising rates here but I wanted to delay selling ads here until the new Google PageRank update had taken place because it plays such a big part in the pricing of ads, particularly text links. As most of you know, BloggingTips missed out in the last update because of a change of domain (we went from org to com).
