I’m a big fan of MyBlogLog. It allows me to see who has been reading the blog and allows me to interact with them in a lot of ways. I can contact them through MyBlogLog, i can see what communties they like and i can see what other bloggers like their blog. MyBlogLog isn’t the only site out there which allows you to interact and promote your blog in this way. The alternative service which a lot of bloggers are using is called BumpZee.
BumpZee
BumpZee is definately the biggest threat to MyBlogLog’s reign.…
Im becoming more and more alarmed with the number of advertising networks who are using Alexa to base advertising rates for publishers. For example, Text Link Ads and ReviewMe.
As you know, i have never had any faith in Alexa. The top results are pretty accurate (Alexa claim 100,000) however outside that range figures are very inaccurate and can easily be manipulated by website owners to boost their own rankings. The irony is that its the websites outside the ‘accurate range’ who are being hit the hardest as a higher percentage of their…
Ever since blogging was catapluted onto the web there has been comparisons between blogs and forums. I believe that they cater to different needs of the web. Blog discussions are driven by the blogger(s) whilst forum discussions are driven by the members (although guided by forum admin). In the start forums struggle for activity due to lack of content and blogs struggle due to lack of comments.
There is a large % of people who have been more involved with blogs than forums and along the way people have forgot how…
I was browsing around MyBlogLog and noticed that John TP had his url stated as http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?www.johntp.com.

My first thought that came to my mind was ‘Sneaky!’ but then i quickly remembered how much i hate Alexa. Alexa ranks have always been hugely unreliable from the very start of its existence and i still hold that opinion. I now think that this is a great idea. Im not one for encouraging people to manipulate or enhance their rankings on sites. Quite the opposite infact.
However, the more people who highlight how fallible Alexa…
…..and all those spammish link train derivatives.
Take the ‘U Comment, I Follow’ campaign for example. If you read my article a few days ago entitled ‘Do you want to remove the ‘No Follow’ tag from your Wordpress Blog?‘, you will know that i am not a 100% devotee.
In short, the campaign is to remove the ‘nofollow’ tag from commentators links so that google will follow the website addresses of those who comment. I was reluctant to even discuss this again however i have read about it on several blogs…
I was a little reluctant to comment at first with my name attached to this website as i wanted to work on content before doing anything along the lines of promotion. With the site slowly approaching its 100th post i now feel more comfortable taking part in some discussions as i think that the site now has enough articles to encourage people to come back.
In the space of a week i have not only got addicted to commentating, i’ve also saw the benefit of taking part in discussions on other…
