Looking to hire a blogger

I’ve added a new marketplace to the Blogging Tips Forums. I plan on adding a few rooms but the first one I have added is the Looking to Hire room. This room will let blog owners advertise about paid and unpaid blogging positions they have available. There aren’t too many places where blog owners can do this for free so I thought this would be a nice addition to the site.

David Peralty asked his readers the other day if they thought blogging jobs were slowing down and noted that many bloggers had talked about the decreasing number and per job rate of blogging and web related positions. I’ve actually noticed this myself in the last few weeks. I added a Looking to Hire room in the Blogging Forums recently though I don’t expect it to be a busy room for a while because of this slow down. Even the Performancing Jobs Board has got extremely quiet and that used to have a few new jobs…

One of the biggest mistakes new bloggers make is that they add too much clutter to their blogs design. The sidebar is usually the place where a lot of this clutter is put, the area where the blogger adds banners, widgets and anything else which they feel has to be placed somewhere on their blog. It’s not uncommon to see a new blog list several banners for top ten lists on their sidebar or many widgets which display random information about their site (eg. page rank, Alexa score etc).

Compared to other online writers, bloggers are definately the most generous when it comes to linking. Most bloggers actively link to websites they love but many times, the favour is not returned.

I’m curious as to what websites readers link to. I personally believe that most bloggers subconsciously have a linking policy when it comes to writing their posts, whether they realise it or not.
