A theme designed for the Photography niche need not be heavy anymore! There are many web technologies available, using which a minimal design can be achieved which still makes the photographs look great.
Gallery Pro is one such theme available at StudioPress store (developed by a third-party developer, though) and it’s one of my favorite products in their catalog. The theme is minimal and yet gorgeous, thus, capable of wooing the user to drive the conversions.
As it happens in the case of every StudioPress product, the only reason why you’re reading Gallery Pro review is because of its price. It is an overpriced product, compared to the other themes available for the same niche. But, the feature set offered in the package can still justify the price.
Gallery Pro Theme Review
Let’s find out all these aspects of Gallery Pro theme in this detailed review and see if it’s worthy of the price or not.
- It uses a minimal design which still keeps photographs in high resolution.
- The design around pictures and the typography combination make everything look gorgeous.
- There is a dedicated layout for smartphones and tablets, ensuring the theme is properly coded for the responsiveness.
- There are multiple areas ready to be used by Widgets which is one easy way to customize the overall theme.
- Different layout options are available and the theme is even ready for translation.
As we’re talking about a theme with minimal design, there aren’t many features onboard here. Yet, the existing ones are good enough to make the recipe good enough.
SEO and Performance
If the technical SEO part is not solid, then publishing better content won’t help much, as it won’t be ranking at better positions. In order to ensure it, every theme should have a proper focus on SEO side. Thankfully, this SEO part of almost every StudioPress theme is rock solid and the same case is applied in the case of Gallery Pro.
Once the theme is setup, just add one dedicated SEO plugin like Yoast SEO, and the overall setup is good to go. If the content is good, there is no stopping from getting it rank at better SERPs positions.
Being a minimal theme, the Performance part is also good. There is hardly anything you need to configure or worry about doing in order to have better performance score.
The score can be further improved by hosting the website at a server using SSD drives and faster hardware. And, you can even use a dedicated cache plugin that will take care of the remaining elements.
The design part of Gallery Pro theme is rock solid. It’s where most of the value lies! Before beginning with the details, I’ll recommend you to check its Demo first.
My favorite part of the design here is how the Call to Action elements of the Landing Page part are integrated with the Blog part.
One can set the theme to be used as a Landing Page only, or for the Blog only, or even for a Shop. Yes, it does support e-commerce plugins and related modules to keep the shop running properly.
The complete design part is kept simple and attractive which is the primary feature here. The Hero Image under the Header area is using full-width and it gets adjusted to the screen resolution when opened from a smartphone or a tablet.
The sidebar is available for individual Posts and even at the Homepage, which can be featured with Instagram feed, a Search tool, or any other module you think helpful for the end user.
The individual Post focuses on the pictures and the content followed by an author profile and threaded comments.
The Footer area holds contact details along with Social Media profiles. The bottom area is also featured with a secondary navigation Menu or it can be used to showcase Copyright and other legal details.
To cater the Photography niche needs, there is also a dedicated Gallery Post available which is one click away from the setup. The primary objective of this Post type is to keep the complete focus on pictures.
In short, Gallery Pro theme is one good pick if you’re relying too much on pictures and related content to make the conversion or sell services.
Genesis framework is the base of Gallery Pro theme. The framework takes care of most of the functionalities and the overall structure of the theme. While, Gallery Pro being the Child theme have more control over the design part, and functionality related to the designing.
This combination of framework and child theme is rock solid as we’re talking about a product available at StudioPress shop. The integration is seamless, ensuring that everything is working perfectly.
As I’ve already made you aware of the Performance and SEO aspects of this particular product, Genesis framework is one of the primary reason behind those top-notch scores. It has been used as a Parent theme for StudioPress products since years.
The most debatable thing about Genesis is the fact of having very fewer features. In order to ensure fast performance, the framework has to stand with lesser and only needed features.
Over to You
As you’ve looked at the theme thoroughly, it’s time to look at the other themes from StudioPress. I’m sure you’ll agree with the fact that Gallery Pro is one of their gorgeous product and it sure stands strong with the themes from other developers.
In my opinion, Gallery Pro is worthy of its price tag and it will definitely add a positive ambiance inside out your photography niche website.
