Blogging is unanimously associated with a casual lifestyle – carry your laptop, grab a drink, find an Internet connection, and get to business. As with any business trade, blogging needs utmost discipline.
Blogging isn’t a pajama party. Be disciplined about your work hours. Don’t be available for emails and social media discussions 24×7. Have certain business hours.
Say NO to casual work approach.
#2 Unskilled Endeavors
We get swayed by other bloggers flaunting their daily and monthly income sheets. We feel, “if she is building Amazon affiliate sites and earning so much, let me do the same” – that’s the ultimate incorrect method of thinking. Such thoughts play with your psyche and creates unrealistic expectations.
Suddenly, your interest in current blog evaporates and a desire to create a new niche site takes hold. You abandon the current and incomplete project to start a new project, and chances are you’ll abandon this one for a seemingly better proposition.
Say NO to getting swayed away by what others are doing.
#3 Single-Handed Management
Blogging in the starting phase is stark different from the moment the blog starts to gain recognition. The work multiplies manifold overnight. Emails, social media interactions, advertising deals, security management, writing and endless other activities consume all your time.
It’s necessary to stop being a lone soldier. Every blogger has certain limitations and instead of spending time to educate yourself on the same, start outsourcing it. For example, if you aren’t good graphic design, no need to teach yourself design. Rather, find talent and outsource the same.
This practice leaves you with more time to focus on the business structure.
Say NO to handling everything on your own. Relax and outsource.
#4 Blinded Follower
It’s a common trend to see new bloggers to blindly follow their mentors or other influencers to oblivion. How many times have we heard a blogger claim to become the next Neil Patel? The next Zac Johnson? The next Pat Flynn?
Why do you want to become a carbon copy of an existing influencer? Where is your identity? You have a name and if you’re serious about blogging as a business and as a career, build a brand in your own name. You need not become a copy of an established blogger to experience fame and recognition.
Say NO to being a blind follower, NO to becoming a carbon copy of a successful person.
