We are close to finishing our series, and by this time have setup our blog, customized it then added content to create our first blog post. However, before publishing or right after it’s important you have your on-page SEO done correctly. By doing this you’ll be able to ensure your content gets indexed correctly for the right keywords. This creates content which is more engaging by sending the right type of people to your website. It’s also ensures you have a higher chance of creating conversions allowing you to reach your bottom line. Today, I’ll be discussing a few ways to get this done so by the end of Part 6, you’ll be able to have content published which has been optimized for search engines.
It’s important you read Parts 1-5 so you have a better idea of the beginning steps. This will make sure your blog is setup correctly, and that you have the right plugins installed. You’ll notice “1” plugin in particular is important for online SEO optimization. Here’s what you’ll be learning today:
- Configuring All-In-One SEO Plugin
- Adding the right keywords
- Then publishing

The Right Plugin
As mentioned throughout my series, you have many plugins which will streamline your setup process. For example, you have All-In-One SEO which is perfect for on-page optimization. This plug-in, when installed, will add the right code to your pages so all that’s left is for you to include the right keywords into the appropriate boxes. For example, if you haven’t done this already then please log-to your backend then Plug-Ins>Add New>All-In-One SEO. Install the plug-in and click “Activate”
You see an option for the plugin within the left-hand menu. Here’s a quick example…
This plug-in does work out-of-the-box so very little configuration is required. However, I recommend filling out the obvious boxes like Title, Description and Keywords. Everything else can be done right before publishing your content, and the meta-data boxes will be displayed on the post-page below the content box. Before continuing to the next step, make sure you have the following:
- A list of your keywords
- Character counter tool open (ensures you have the right amount of characters)
- Research tool open just in case you have to switch things around
Adding the Right Keywords
After you have written your content, you can scroll to the bottom where you’ll find a section to add keywords 7 meta-data. Here’s a quick example…
Her you can write out your optimized title, description and add some keywords. Make sure you add your main keyword within the title, and add two sub-keywords within the description section. This will optimize your content for relevance, but high authority keywords for the search engine. Before filling in this information I recommend you use the character counter to ensure you meet the following criteria.
- Title (60 Characters)
- Description (150-155 Characters)
- Keywords 3-4 (optional)
Publishing Your Content
Once you have written your content, and added the right keywords within the All-in-One SEO plugin box visible within the content window. It’s time to publish your content which can be done with a click of a button. Your content set-up should look like the following.
Towards the right-top of content page, you’ll see a “Publish” button. Click the button and your post has been posted. 🙂
This content was bit shorter then my usual, but it covered the basics of getting the right keywords in the right place. At this point, you’ve set everything up and are ready to start marketing your blog content. Keep a few things in mind before we get into the final part of our series.
First, you want to make sure you have your main and LSI keywords in the right places like title, body, H1, H2 and conclusion. Secondly, make sure you always write the best content possible especially when there is stiff competition within your niche. One thing “8” years in blogging has taught me is that there is NO substitute for high quality products, content and services. Third, having targeted keywords sometimes is NOT enough so you have to build links overtime. You’ll learn the importance of high quality link building campaigns in Part 7, but this is something which you should already know about even before you start your blog. It’s going to take time to start ranking so you should have all your tools in place.
