The end goal of all bloggers is to have a successful blog with lots of traffic and providing value in the process. Building a blog that can turn into a business or revenue is an added bonus.
It doesn’t matter what niche you are working in, as long as you are providing valuable resources that answer the questions people are looking for, then you are going to rank in the search results and get repeat traffic.
Take WikiHow or WebMD for example. They are a huge site that a ton of people use on a daily basis. Why? Simply because they have answers to all of the questions that people are searching for every day on Google.
These sites have the answers… so they have become the trusted authority sites within their niche.
The same can be done for a blog in any given niche. Let’s take “how to setup web hosting” for example. Web hosting is extremely saturated and competitive, so it’s not the best example, but it’s one that related to “blogging”, so let’s go with it. HostGator and GoDaddy own this niche… so one might think they rank #1 for “how to setup web hosting“.
Instead we see that ArsTechnica.com has the number one listing, along with quite the lengthy and awesome post on the question. Since they’ve put in the time and effort to create killer content on their site, they’ve become a trusted name and blog that people can trust… yet at the same time competing in the rankings against names like HostGator and GoDaddy (who ranks #2 by the way).
Now that you have a few examples of sites that are doing well simply because they have the answers to questions that people ask on a daily basis, it’s time for you to find what questions to ask and answer on your site.
Over time your content will gain more attention as being an accurate source and this will eventually lead to you being one of the authority blogs within your niche.
