Are you searching for effective ways to grow your online audience while increasing your blog traffic? Social media is an efficient tool for promoting your blog and making it popular among your target audience. Businesses have successfully extended their blog’s reach using social media sites such as YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterst, Google+, and of course Facebook and Twitter.

9 Tips for Using Social Media to Successfully Promote Your Blog

Let’s take a look at our Top 9 Tips for Promoting Your Blog Using Social Media:

Post to Social Media Profiles Using Feed Tools

Twitterfeed, and various other feed tools give you the ability to publish links to your blog posts on multiple social media sites automatically. If your blog is running on the WordPress platform, you’ll find some really great plug-ins that help you automate this process.

Automate Your Publishing

Imagine how simpler your blogging life would be if you could automate your posts. Well, using tools like HootSuite, SproutSocial and TweetDeck, you can. Simply schedule your posts for the entire day, week or even month ahead. This is a great way for busy business owners to get the word out about new posts quickly and simply. Scheduling allows you to spread your posts out, while simultaneously posting to various social media profiles.

Add Icons on Your Blog for Quick Social Media Sharing, Tweeting and Liking

No matter which blogging platform you use, your sidebar should contain social network icons. Why? These icons allow your readers to quickly connect with you via your social network profiles, with just one click. They also encourage your audience to share, like and tweet about your blog or any of its contents.

Link Your Blog and Social Media Profiles to Each Other

Social Media NetworksEvery single one of your social network profiles should include the URL of your blog. That way, no matter where your audience is connecting to you from, your blog is only a simple click away.

Your Forum Signatures Should Contain the URL of Your Blog

When you post relevant, valuable information, questions or comments in industry-related forums, you increase your web presence. Including a link to your blog in forum signatures helps to create backlinks to your blog, which helps to increase blog traffic.

Comments Made on Other Blog Should Contain Your Blog’s URL

Leaving or responding to comments on other relevant blogs also increases your web presence among your target audience. Add a link to your blog within your comments to create valuable backlinks. This also increases the chances of that audience visiting your blog using a single click.

Utilize the Social Media Widgets and Tools Offered

Most of the popular social media networks offer free widgets and tools to promote user profiles. These can be added to your blog to increase your content’s exposure. Simply log into your social media profiles, access these features, and add them to your blog.

Great tips Chad! I would add that aggressive engagement is the quickest way to create blogging success through social media. Automate to save yourself time but follow up by commenting on social updates, blogs, and of course, aggressively share OPC; Other People’s Content lol!

By engaging, you make friends, and friends aggressively promote their friends, write testimonials and support friends through tough times, and bloggers are apt to reach some valleys on their journey.

By being present and focusing on helping people through social, the blogging possibilities are endless.

Thanks for sharing!

Great list!

Social media is whatever you make it. For some, bloggers it’s a major driver of traffic. For others, their profile is a wasteland, only hurting their brand. Here’s just 3 more tips I’d add:

Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Many people will try to join every social media site. In doing so, they’ll fail at every one. Go where your audience has the highest presence and only join as many as you can truly keep up with.

Be present. Ryan addresses this with his comment but it’s worth repeating. Automation is immensely helpful, but not a substitute for the real time nature of social media. Take time and be present on social media. Ask questions. Engage. Be human.

Join groups. If you aren’t taking advantage of Twitter chats, Facebook groups, and other social media connection “hotspots” than you aren’t taking full advantage of social media. There are millions of small communities ready to help take your social media game to the next level.

Looking forward to your next post, Chad!

I totally recognize the benefits of using G+ and other social media and web2 platforms as an effective online marketing strategy, and I also have wanted to give it a try, but I’ve got some unexpected issue while managing my G+account(s). I haven’t got any problems with the other stuff (twitter, facebook, pinterest, instagram, tumblr), only the G one made me cry. Because I own a personal G+ profile and I used to have a youtube channel as well which has turned into a G+ page a couple of weeks ago. Don’t misunderstand me, it’s such a cool thing, but I only can share content on my personal page and don’t have any control over my other page (my former youtube channel) any suggestion for that? did somebody else have the same experiences?

Hi Chad, thanks for sharing such great ideas. Social media has a great signification in promoting blog as well as online business as both runs on a parallel track. Blog helps business to connect to their target customer through answering their query regarding business and providing detailed description about the business. Social Media helps to promote the blog so we can simultaneously achieve our goal.

You have to help others without any expectation of return. Great advice. As much as we’d like traffic on our own blog, it’s good to realize that paying it forward’ is the best way to go.Likes are great but when someone comments I definitely make sure to reply and even visit their page since they took the time to leave a response. It’s the blogging circle of life
