How I Became a #1 Blogger on Business2Community

One of the best ways to grow your brand, bring attention to your name and even increase backlinks and traffic to your sites is through the use of guest blogging.

Many of us are already doing this, and it’s only a matter of time before Google takes action and comes out with a new black and white animal to ban or penalize sites and blogs that aren’t using authentic methods for guest blogging and are simply selling links with obvious backlinks and anchor text.

With that said, some blogs are great to write for, while others are almost a waste of time.

I previously did a write up on this on my other blog at ZacJohnson.com, but wanted to provide an update for all BloggingTips readers as well.

Business2Community.com is one of the largest business/social/marketing blogs on the internet. It has a PageRank of 5 and a Alexa in the 5,000 range.

Best of all, they allow for contributors to post to their site, which is what I focused some effort on last week.

What drew me to do some guest blogging on their site was that they have a “Top Contributors This Week” section featured on the site and I wanted to see if I could get to #1.

B2C Top Contributor

Sure enough, after a few days of writing quality and original articles for the site, I wad #1!

I ended up posting around 15-20 articles to the site within a few days and quickly appeared on the top contributors list til I was number one.

It’s important that you know that this chart is on a weekly basis, so if you want to stay on the list you would have to keep posting 15+ articles per week.

There are many contributors on the site with hundreds of articles submit.

Getting Featured with a Popular Post

Of the 20+ articles that I submit to the site, one of them ended up being featured in their “Popular Today” section and was also trending for several days.

The post was on how to bring financial life to your dying blog. It remained in the popular today section for a day or so, then moved into the “also trending area”.

It’s been a few days since the post was removed from the main page, but it’s had over 135+ social shares.

How Does Business2Community Stack Up?

As mentioned earlier, not all blogs are created the same, nor do they provide the same value to their guest bloggers.

I really like B2C because of the excellent author section that they have on their site.

You get a full author bio, picture, link to your site and all social profiles.

The overall site layout and design is pretty nice to, with minimal advertising.

One of the drawbacks I saw from the site was the amount of comments each post receives.

Even with my popular and trending post, there were still only a few comments.

Business2Community Referring Traffic

Getting Traffic through Guest Blog PostingOne of the most common goals for most guest bloggers is to try and get more readers and traffic back to their site as a result of their guest posts.

This was something I actually wanted to track while posting on B2C.

Since it’s a large site and they are posting hundreds of articles per day, it was tough to know what to expect.

From the 20+ posts that I submit to their site, it only resulted in 52 clicks to BloggingTips.com and ZacJohnson.com combined.

Though it is important to remember that you will have these articles and links on their high profile site forever, so you can receive more traffic over the life of your articles.

Business2Community Recap & Useful Posts

As you can see, there is plenty that B2C has to offer.

Since their site is so large and they are pushing so much content through the site, it may be tough for your articles to be noticed and commented on.

At the same time you are also getting to publish articles on an authority site and gain instant exposure, with the potential for your post to go viral.
