2012 came & went away in a swish. We’re in 2013 now and if you’re still blogging, marvelous!
So what’s your blogging resolution for 2013? Here are my two pennies:
-
Decrease Frequency & Write In-Depth Posts
My first resolution is to decrease the frequency of blog posts.
Honestly, we don’t get anything by posting daily except for a high index number in Google’s eyes. For someone who’s blogging for more than 6 months, reducing the frequency of posts to twice a week will be a boon. The rest of the time can be spent on promoting, networking and marketing.
-
Do More Guest Posts
My goal this year is to continue establishing myself as an authority on issues plaguing small business owners. Therefore, I will be preparing a list of blogs / business websites accepting guest posts keeping in mind three factors – (1) PR / Alexa Rank / Moz Rank; (2) reader engagement; (3) social media presence.
You won’t get a readymade list anywhere so you need to put in the efforts. Guest blogging is a very effective way to build authority, share editorial content and reach out to new readership.
-
Be Consistent & Not Lose Hope
Losing hope and giving up is the major drawback of blogging. In the last 12 months, many times I thought of giving up and selling my blog for various reasons but in the end, better sense prevailed.
If you’re feeling the same, I won’t advice but just ask you not to lose hope. Treat your blog/s as your child. Just like you won’t give up a child because he/she doesn’t study hard, don’t give up on blogging either.
If you’re feeling stuck, take break & come back after a month. Give your blog/s a new lease of life. I certainly plan to do the same.
-
Don’t Focus on Money Only
Admittedly, for a month or two, I was only interested after how much money I am making from my blogs and that gave negative results. So my New Year resolution for 2013 is not to think about the amount of money I am making per blog. Sure, it is in the mind but the idea is to not let the thought cloud over better judgment.
Do you agree with me?

Wishing everyone a warm, happy and prosperous 2013. Happy New Year.

I have already decreased the frequency of blog post. My resolution is to provide more quality content and guest posting.

Hi,
I am also a blogger, but there are no much opportunities since last year. What is the reason?
Sumathi, what kind of opportunities are you looking for?
1. You want to do paid blogging?
2. You want to earn from your blog?
Which one?

I’d actually increase my frequency, right now I don’t have much time on my blog so am only posting once every 2 weeks at best. Would ideally like to post one quality post a week.

That’s not increasing frequency, its quality control actually James. One post per week is perfectly okay
