We all know about the importance of blog ‘posts’, let’s concentrate on some blog ‘pages’ which, I think, is necessary for the overall development of a blog.
(1) Contact Page – I have seen few high authority business websites and blogs without any contact page. I don’t understand the reason for this but I think that a contact page is necessary for people to contact the blogger.
You can either use the standard contact page with WordPress or use various plugins like Contact Form 7 for this purpose.
(2) About Page – This is the page I visit every time I land on a new blog. This page gives a snapshot of the person behind the blog. Read this detailed post on why you should have an about page.
(3) Advertisement Page – This is again a must have page if you intend to earn advertisement revenue from the blog. No one will know you are interested in advertisement if you don’t ‘advertise’ it! The advertisement page should have details of your blog like advertisement niche preferred, domain authority, domain age, Moz Rank, popularity level, geo-traffic, page rank and others.
Embed a separate contact form in the advertisement page and update this page regularly.
(4) FAQ Page – A typical ‘blog’ might not need this page but if you are selling products or services through the blog, this FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page proves to be useful. This page saves your time from communicating the same thing over and over again.
(5) Privacy Policy Page – You can buy custom privacy policy page or take reference from somewhere else and create one yourself. A privacy policy page is very important as it tells the visitors what you do with their information.
I use the free Generate Privacy Policy tool to create custom privacy policy pages. Just fill in the relevant details and you can download the PDF file.
(6) Disclaimer Page – You can combine this page with the privacy policy page but sometimes it makes sense to include a separate page. A disclaimer page makes the purpose of the blog transparent to the readers. It shows what the blogger gets out the blog; for instance, the disclaimer page could contain content stating the revenue model utilized in the blog and what all is done with user information.
The disclaimer page will vary depending on the purpose of each blog.
(7) Guest Blogging Page – If you want guest contributions on your blog, prepare a guest blogging / contributor / write here page for guest bloggers.
Writing this page is not that easy so just as examples, you can check out the guest blogging pages of my blog and Zac’s blog.
Other Pages
Pre-sell pages, affiliate landing pages, squeeze page and subscriber pages are some other examples of blog pages.

Any advice on getting guest bloggers to help out. I have those things on my website, but I am looking for guest bloggers to help out in posting and spreading the word about my site. Thanks.
Ed, you have to modify the guest blogging page. Mention that guest bloggers have to help out in guest blog post promotion. To motivate them, you can offer them incentives like a week of featured promotion, some freebies etc.

Gaurav, more than Google ranking, it’s going to effective reader engagement / interest. Just imagine a blog WITHOUT About page, Disclaimer, Privacy Policy and others…will you consider it reliable? No, you won’t.
So yes, if you include these pages, you are increasing blog value.

Hi Chitra,
Cool summary of what are the important pages to have for a typical blog. I personally think that the “requirements” varies depending on whether we are hobbyist or professional bloggers and also the overall objective of the blogger.
Cheers!
