Your Blogging Phone Is Worth More Than You Thought

Blogging has gone from hammering away at your laptop to conducting email interviews, posting fresh, exciting content on the go and tweeting 24/7. “Mobile, mobile, mobile” is being screamed down the hallways of marketing agencies. The Internet is truly interactive now. It’s no longer about sitting down at a computer. It’s all go, go, go!

Nobody knows this better than Apple, which explains why the iPhone tops the charts as the best blogging phone in the industry – and I’m an android user!

As you well know, the faster, slimmer and bigger iPhone 5 was just released. While it really is an amazing phone, it’s not what blew my mind this go around. The packaging did.

Anyone who has ever unpacked an iPhone, or any other Apple product for that matter, has witnessed the exhilaration of peeling away the fine workmanship that goes into its packaging. There’s nothing really quite like it – okay, cigar boxes come close.

I remember when I bought my very first Apple product, an iPod Nano. It literally took me longer to remove it from its packaging than it took me to turn it on and familiarize myself with it!

First, it was an expensive investment for me at the time, so I wanted to soak in all the detail. Second, I couldn’t figure out how to remove it from the plastic holder. And third, I marveled again and again at its gorgeous design. What was the effect? It fueled my curiosity for the treasure hidden inside. More importantly, it gave me great confidence in my purchase. Well, things are steaming up inside Apple’s secret design room.

We know at least five million iPhone 5’s have been distributed, a fair amount of packaging. And we know that iPhone packaging doesn’t come cheap. In fact, a staggering amount of resources are used up just to wrap these devices. I have to ask, what will you do with your packaging after the curtain is drawn and the real magic begins?

I’d guess that, unlike cigar boxes, most of the iPhone 5 packaging will end up in the trash. What if all five million were recycled and used for the iPhone 6? The results are astounding.
