Things that Cause Nicks
Most of the time the things that can cause nicks are small things that hit the windshield at a high rate of speed. Solution
There are several remedies to fixing the nick. You are welcome to go the more expensive route but you the job can be done with a simple liquid resin application.
What is Liquid Resin:
Liquid resin is a synthetic fluid that, when mixed with a hardening agent, quickly dries into an extremely durable solid. Some of the most common liquid resins are epoxy, polyurethane, silicone, and polyester. Due to their moldable properties and their final hardness, these resins have many applications. They are used, for instance, to produce floor coatings, electronics casings, and even decorative sculptures. One of the most popular applications of liquid resin, however, is casting.
Step By Step Instructions:
- Before you can apply the resin you need to clean the entire window with mild soapy water. Rinse it off with water and then allow it to air dry. If you need to apply the resin right away then you can use a cloth.
- Soak the corner of a cloth with the denatured alcohol and apply it to the nicked area to remove any build up.
- Fill the syringe with resin by pushing the syringe rubber end forward all the way placing the tip into the resin bottle and drawing back on the rubber end until the syringe is full.
- Apply a small amount of resin to the nicked area and allow it to dry for an hour or so.
- Scrape the excess resin off of the surface with the edge of the razor blade. Be careful not to cut yourself.
That’s it the nick should be all fixed. Allow the work you have just completed to sit for a bid and settle into the window. We don’t advise you to take the do-it-yourself approach to all windshield repair issues but this one is defiantly a repair that can be done at home.
