4 Ways to Get Motivation as a Blogger

Posted by on 23rd Nov 2011 Blogging 15 comments

motivationTo be honest with you, blogging can be sometimes boring, and this mostly has to do with the fact that it is becoming a routine. By this, I mean you have to write new articles every day, you have to comment on other blogs, you have to write guest posts, and you have to keep on doing all of those once-interesting tasks that are now starting to become very boring regularly.

It can be very easy to lose motivation as a blogger, especially if you are not getting as much results as you desire, and this article will be giving you a few tips on how to get motivation as a blogger.

1. Try Different Content Mediums

One thing I have noticed to be the reason for most people losing motivation when doing things is that thing turning into a routine, and as bloggers we have to do a lot of things that end up becoming routine. Mind you, I’m not against routine in any form, as it is bound to be a part of our lives sooner or later. Instead, I believe in having fun in whatever you do, and the only way to do that is by trying different things.

Even though most people are used to writing when it comes to publishing new content on their blog, there are variety of ways through which you can deliver content to your audience. For example, you can decide to record a podcast or a video, and by trying different content mediums you will be able to see what works for you, and as a result have more fun doing it.

2. Change your Marketing Approach

Sometimes, the reason we lose motivation for blogging is because we are not getting any results. Believe me when I say I’ve been there, and it can be very boring to be updating and marketing your blog every day without any significant result. In a situation like this, the best thing to do is change your marketing approach. You can either try a combination of two to three marketing tactics, and you can decide to change your current marketing approach completely. It is important to make sure you have fun marketing your blog, and that you are learning new things every day.

3. Experiment with a New Content Posting Plan

Like I said earlier, a major reason why most bloggers lose motivation is because they are tired of doing the same things always. Are you used to publishing a new blog post on your blog every day, or thrice a week? Why not experiment with a new plan to only publish a new post only once in a week, or whenever you want?

You shouldn’t stick to a plan like this forever, though, it should only be temporary so as to help you get into the mood again.

4. Go Offline for a While

Sometimes what you need is some offline time. Maybe you’ve been glued to your computer for so long that it is starting to get boring. Why not take a fresh approach on life by going offline for a few days or weeks. This period should be spent doing whatever you love. It could be learning new things, doing sports, or whatever. Just make sure you are having so much fun, and by the time you get back online you will come back with a new perspective.

I always get a hell more motivated when I see earnings, preferably unsuspected earnings, this always motivates me for some time but unfortunately if my earnings drop so dose my motivation.

      Ha-ha, so true!

And they say money isn’t important, money doesn’t make you happy… :D

Going offline for a while is a good way of distancing yourself from all the noise and clutter that you constantly encounter on the Internet. It can help fine-tune your perspective and renew your creativity.

In case you’re frustrated, just do something extreme like taking a jump with parachute. I am dead serious about that!

I practice parkour and FreeRun. Each time I get frustrated by anything, I just go out and jump. Doing flips in the air is always frightening, especially on the solid ground and from the height.

Every time I fall I get a lot of adrenaline. This adrenaline is the source to realize that life is great and exciting. With these emotions I easily get back to studying, working and blogging, like it is my first time. :)

Aristotle once said that the unexamined life is not worth living. I believe one other way to get motivation is to examine yourself and clearly define your purpose for blogging. Purpose is powerful, It keeps you moving in face of every obstacles and discouragement. A man of purpose is a man of exploits. Purpose has drive and energy to keep one moving.

When I run out of blogging motivation I blog about not being motivated ;-) just kidding

Actually my recent post touched a bit about this. It was more about blogging feeling as if a thanks-less job. It can really be disappointing when you put in all the hard work and there’s no one really to read it or appreciate it!

What has worked for me is trying out with different types of blog content and also varying different blog promotion tactics. If you provide quality content and be different from every other blogger, it hard for readers to stay away.

Of course, the best motivation that I have found over time is the simplest of solutions, and that is to absolutely love and have a profound personal interest in what you are blogging about.

If you a strong motive behind your blogging, your motivation is not going anywhere, trust me. Do blogging for a purpose. Set the goals within a time frame. Have a strong belief in yourself. The feeling of accomplishment will keep you motivated all the time.

Such a common problem. I try to shake things up by trying different themes. I might start by doing a theme on social media, or a theme on small business, or a theme on business problems. I keep the timeline relatively short, but whatever my topic, I have to do some research – it’s the research that keeps me going.

I love Sharon’s idea. I’m not sure it has to be that extreme – anything that feels like an adventure would be sufficient, though parkour looks like so much fun!

Earning is the single biggest motivation factor. I some time see huge rate per click and sometimes very low on my blog http://investorzclub.blogspot.com and as a result the earnings fluctuate a lot. When earnings drop it creates a kind of fear while when it is high it motivates. Yes to keep yourself going I think one should take periodic breaks.

While working we should be honest to our work, try to make it interesting and be motivated because it gives ton of energy when you’re embarking on something new.

Actually, we really don’t know if we motivate someone. But blogging itself will sure help someone to be motivated in some other ways. Motivation is something that ignites us to do our work even better.
