When I first started blogging I knew the importance of traffic to the success of a blog. I knew it is traffic that results in sales, I knew it is traffic that converts into subscribers and I knew that the less traffic you have the slimmer your chances of success as a blogger.
The problem was that it is a very difficult thing to drive traffic to a new blog, and I needed to start thinking about paying for traffic or waiting for it to manifest over time. The funny thing about this is that even if I wanted to buy traffic I didn’t have the money, and this is the case for many other new bloggers.
If you’re a new blogger thinking about buying traffic. Make sure you read this article before “wasting” your money on buying traffic to your blog.
Getting Traffic to Stick
The reason why most newbies get excited with the idea of buying traffic is that they’re yet to face the reality of blogging and internet marketing. Most of them think getting traffic to a blog is very easy and automatic, and that if they get 10,000 visitors to their blog in one month they will be able to guarantee the same amount of visitors the following month.
The reality of blogging is that getting traffic to your blog is one thing, making that traffic to stick is another. If you’re able get 10,000 unique quality visitors to your blog for $500 and you have to be paying the same amount, or even more to maintain that traffic, I really don’t think it is worth it – because your blog has many purposes and the most important thing is that you’re getting a good return on investment. But I think it’s better to ask yourself, if I can get all those visitors for free, why pay for them?
Monetizing the Traffic
The next thing you have to think about before paying for traffic is how you will make money from your blog. Making money from blogging isn’t that easy, and plastering ads on your blog won’t be enough.
You need to think of a long-term game plan, which in most cases requires you to develop your authority as a blogger over the years.
You really shouldn’t pay to get traffic to your blog just because you want it to grow – you need to have a valid reason for paying for traffic, and in most cases this should be because you will get far more than you paid to get that traffic.
The Importance of SEO
What if we take things in a new light and we start thinking about better ways to drive traffic to our blog for free instead of having to pay. Do you know that you have the same chances of getting the same amount of visitors, or even more, from Google as those who are paying thousands of dollars a month. It’s all about making effective use of SEO.
A lot of bloggers hate SEO, but it is one of the best way to start getting great, consistent traffic to your blog. Start doing all you can to learn more about optimizing your blog for the search engines and you’ll see how free traffic is better than paid traffic.
