When it comes to making money online we all know that blogging is one of the most effective ways to make money online. A lot of people familiar with the concept of blogging believe that making money blogging is very difficult and that it can often take years to get results but the reality is that it all depends on your approach. Like with every other make money online strategy there are different ways to make money from blogging and there are blogging systems you can set up with which you can start making money in a matter of weeks or months.

This article will be listing the 3 main kinds of blogs you can create to help you make money online.

A Niche Blog

A niche blog or an affiliate blog is a blog created specifically in a particular niche with the purpose to make affiliate or ad sales. The approach you will follow when building a niche blog is different from the general blogging approach we all know about and if properly built you can start making money online from your niche blog in a matter of weeks, or in a few months.

In terms of structure, a niche blog is also very different from other kinds of blogs and you can easily build it with few content and leave it to grow.

Unlike with an authority blog, most niche blogs focus on maximizing the long-tail keywords from the search engines and they can be a really great way to make money as a blogger.

A Normal/Long-Term/Authority Blog

The next kind of blog on this list that you can create to help you make money online is an authority blog.

We all know Copyblogger, Problogger, DailyBlogTips and BloggingTips. All these blogs are the general kind of blogs we’re all familiar with and they are often referred to as an authority blog. Unlike with a niche blogĀ  most of these authority blogs are built with a main audience in mind and they are often developed with consistent content and marketing efforts over the years. Most of these blogs have been around for more than 3 years and the main way the owner plans to monetize them is by building it as an authority/expert blog in order to be able to create useful products that can be sold to the audience of the blog in the future.

Most authority blogs aren’t started with the aim to make money but the creator later decides to monetize it as he sees fit. These kinds of blogs are also the most trusted by people and search engines and they often stand the test of time.

A Business Blog

The final kind of blog you can start to help you make more money is a business blog.

These kinds of blogs are blogs started by people who already have a business offline or online and whose main aim is to use the blog to spread the word about their business in order to get more customers and clients. In most cases these kind of blogs are started to create more awareness about a particular business and to also let people know the importance of being a customer.

Conclusion

Having a blog has a lot of advantages and one of the most common advantages of blogging is the ability to make money from it. The above are some of the most common kind of blogs you can create to help you make more money online.

I prefer running niche blog as it is more flexible and interesting to be explored – plus it’s easier to find the target audience too.

Btw it’s up to your own target and way of marketing :D

If you’re an expert at or at least passionate with a lot of things, then building niche blog sites should be a fundamental part of your SEO plan. Try to cover all verticals – technology, lifestyle, education, religion… This way you get to reach out to a larger target audience and hopefully make each of your blog sites alive.

I would say, since Quality has been an important factor now, niche blogs may not stay very long if authority blogs are already posting on those long tail words.

I prefer the authority type blog. I’ve tried may niche blogs and have not had much success with them. :)

You are very right about this. I build a blog that tries to incorporate all the three. It’s a big niche blog which is getting more authority by the day and also, it’s an online business blog

Starting is important but also keeping the job going is more important. People should consider the niches that they are available to write continiously. That is to say, a niche that you love or that you know very much about it, or that you keep working on it.

I would go for the niche blog as a beginner and try to eventually turn it into an authorative blog. To me that is the best approach at making a decent or large amount of cash from your blog overtime. Just make sure to stay focused and things should turn out well.

As per this description I could say I am running a niche blog. thanks for these descritpion, it never crossed my mind blogs could be categorized as you have done. it looks like one should think of which category to get it into before one starts to blog with a clear strategy.

    thanks

blogs are a good way to create a revenue base but isnt it getting harder and harder to drive traffic to them with the panda update that has been implemented by Google.
