No, You Won’t Make Money Blogging

Oh, so you think you will make money blogging? Maybe. Maybe not. I’d advise you not to jump to conclusions until you finish reading this blog post.

What is a Blog?

If I might ask you this question, what is a blog? Why are you blogging? Do you think all it takes to make money blogging is start a blog and expecting the money to come? I know a lot of you will come up with various definitions and some people will even come up with definitions along the lines of a blog being a way to make money online and that is why so many people are wrong. In order to give you a better understanding, I’d ask, can you make money from a blog? Yes, you can, not by thinking it is a business but by using it to drive people to your business. Even though you can easily tell people to come advertise on your blog or on your TV channel it will only make you enough income to sustain you on the long run compared to trying to get them to buy something like a premium product or subscription.

How to Make People Pay for What You Have to Offer

The best way to make money from your blog is by having something to offer but the reality is you can have as much visitors as you want but there is only one way to guarantee a large percentage of them make use of your service and that is what this section will be focusing on.

The real key to making people pay for what you have to offer is helping them for free. Yes, you have to give value for free, and you have to give a lot of it. There are so many people fighting for the pocket of your readers and you have to prove it to them that you’re their best candidate. Always do your best to give your readers your best content. Make sure you always help them when they’re in need. Always refer them to useful and helpful resources and even when you launch, make sure you only offer the best.

The Best Way to Make Money from Your Blog

Once you’ve followed the above step and have done your best to give your readers your best while at the same time gain your trust the next thing you need to do is monetize.

The best way to monetize your blog is to have something to offer, this might be your skill, your time, your expertise or your product. It doesn’t matter what this is, you will get a lot of people to pay for this if you have their trust.

Even though having a service to offer is really important and the only way to guarantee you really make money from your blog it is important to know that your readers won’t just click with every product you release or any service you have to offer so you have to know what they want clearly first, and this can be done by reading their comments, by observing their responses to your posts, by observing the trend in the emails they send and by proving to them you’re the best person for them when it comes to this.

I just started my blog, and I am making quite a bit through ad sense. I don't get much traffic at the moment, but I can see my site being a big money making with a few thousand visitors.

Blogging is not a easy task. If you want to make your own blog you have to possess the power of maintaining the blog. If you can maintain it perfectly and can be able to create a twist towards the reader it will increase visitors and will increase your earning also.

@ Emerick
You can make a lot of money on low traffic blogs with adsense if you target to high paying PPC keywords. I've seen a couple lists around recently, but it seems like health law related keywords can be worth as much as $50 per click! It definitely pays to have content in that niche!

Blogging definitely is not an easy task. It takes lots of time and effort and many people are discouraged quickly. I've worked 5 hard years on social media and I'm still not making tons of money but that's because I wasn't monetizing back then. I recently landed a paid blogging job though at a large Asian-American TV network called MYX TV through my hard work and dedication to social media. It's possible but you must be prepared to work.

Nice topic, Oni. I agree also with James on having to spend the required time and energy on maintaining a competitive blog. I 'd like, though, to go a step further. As you know there are people who work for their businesses and there are businesses which work for their owners. A traditional good blogger is able to make a good living, but he 's only created a job for himself. Congratulations. So, if he works 5 hours/day he will make X money and if he works 10 hours he will get maybe X*2 (the double). The business oriented blogger (the true businessman) first will do a money-making blog i.e. not just general information, blogging tips for blogging, etc (these are for hobbyists who are happy with $10/day from Adsense,) but something that helps the visitor's needs and sells, as you say and then he will lever up his efforts though automating the basic parts of his blog. The entrepreneur never does clutter work; he outsources it. That's the difference between blogging – job and blogging – online business.

My expectations on making money via blogging was given a good nudge in the right direction after I picked up and read a copy of Blogging all-in-one for DUMMIES authored by Susan Gunelius.
Easily, I learned enough in the first 100 pages to repay me 10 times for the cost of the almost 700 page book!
I strongly recommend you get a copy of this book.
I am not compensated for this comment.

It is very difficult to make money blogging. Most people who start blogs will give up before seeing their first dollar. The advice you gave about situating your blog in a good ad sense niche is a golden idea, and one I wish I had considered before setting up the blogs I currently run. You live and you learn. Thanks for sharing.

Maintenance of a blog is the most important thing. Creativity, importance and beautification are the most effective things too. If anyone wants to earn and increase visitor, he/she must follow above of this post.
