ViewsOnYou for Twitter is a surprisingly addicting site that lets you rate yourself, your friends and anyone else with a Twitter account. It’s also a great way to see what others think about you and compare yourself to others. The main part of the site is used for getting professional opinions that can be used as job references. The Twitter section, though, is more simple and easier to use; plus it just makes sense with the rise of Twitter spam. If you’re ever wanting to know more about someone on Twitter and see how they rate, try looking them up on ViewsOnYou.

Whether you have used the site or not, you already have a profile page. If you prefer not to appear on the site, you can however request that they remove you. Once you login via Twitter OAuth, you can see your profile page with any current reviews. The profile contains basic information like your name, location, Twitter URL, Twitter bio, and short URL to your page. If you have completed any reviews, you can see that along with how many times you’ve been reviews and how many profile views you have as well.

Also a great section that you’ll find in your profile sidebar is a suggested list of “who you could review”. It seems to show some of your most contacted users here. Underneath that is a “who you have reviewed” area and then “who has reviewed you” section. FYI – you can review yourself! The main area of your profile shows your average review ratings from all users. For each question you can see who chose what; it will show their avatar picture on the scale. It’s easier to look at (below) than explain in writing.

The questions that you can answer are pretty in-depth but it’s up to you whether you choose to go into more details or not. There are actually 4 pages of questions that you can answer and each page has 5 questions. After the first 5 questions, you can choose to click on “answer more questions” or “I’m done”. If you choose “answer more questions” then you can keep going until the final page or just stop at whatever page you choose and submit the questions you’ve answered. Each one is on a slider and you’ll have to drag the user’s avatar picture to the appropriate location.

Finally, after submitting your review, you have the option to send a tweet notifying the person that you’re reviewed them along with a short URL for them to view it.
You can also go to a user’s profile and choose to compare them with yourself along with anyone that you’re following and/or anyone that he’s following. After you choose the people you want to compare, the results will be displayed on the same sliders – which is definitely very interesting to look at. You can see which followers have the most in common and so forth.

Upon discovering ViewsOnYou, I found that I easily spent an hour there going through and reviewing users that I know best; it’s actually kind of fun. I’m sure it will be more fun to see what others think of me. All-in-all I think that my “average review” could service as a solid professional reference and is especially good for consultants, contractors, freelancers and people of that nature to use as a form of credibility.
