Top Five Tips to be Successful

Posted by on 26th Feb 2010 Writing 12 comments

I’ve read several books in my time on being successful and personal development. There are a few things that are repeated in most of them. They must be important. I want to share with you the ones that stand out to me the most. These principles can be applied to any area of your life that you want to be successful. If you want to build a successful blog or online business, publish fiction, get more freelance clients, be a professional blogger, etc.–these are a few of the key things you need to do.

#1. Decide to be a success

If you don’t make the decision you’ll never take the steps to become a success. You have to see it in your mind first. If you can’t envision being successful, you’ll never work towards being successful.

#2 Set a schedule

You need to set a daily work schedule to get your work done, but you also need to set a due date for when you want to reach success. As you reach each success in your life, raise the bar and work towards a bigger goal.

#3. Never stop learning

To be successful you need to start learning how to be successful. Do what successful people do. Get plugged in to training and getting motivated.

T. Harv Eker says, “Rich people constantly learn and grow. Poor people think they already know.” You can substitute the words “successful and unsuccessful” for the words “rich and poor” and still get the meaning of what he’s saying.

Mark Yarnell says, “Success results more from attitude than ability.” This quote can also go with #1 listed above. You need a successful attitude. Learning and growing can help you have the successful attitude you need.

#4. Set a business budget and stick to it

This works for a traditional business, online business or a successful blog. Set a monthly budget for advertising or paying writers for content and stick to it. As your income increases, you can set a higher budget, but in the beginning if your budget is small–stick to it. It will eventually pay off.

#5. Maintain a positive attitude

This tip also goes with #1 and #3. If you don’t have a positive attitude you’ll never get anywhere. You’ll be destined to stay where you’re at, doing the same old thing and wondering why success doesn’t happen. If you’re always negative why would success won’t to hang around you?

Successful people are positive people. They don’t let life or obstacles stand in their way or bring them down.

This is just a small list of what it takes to build a successful career–but these are the top of the list. Hope you’ve enjoyed. I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions.

I'm still working on managing my time. I may have to do most of it on the weekends instead of trying to do something everyday.

I don't have a budget yet. Once I get two down then I'll look into it.

What strikes a chord in me is Never stop learning! SO TRUE! I love to learn. I have learned more about my niche writing my blogs than I ever knew before. With blogs it's important to check facts and do your research and I'm amazed at how much more educated I am from it.

I think the change in attitude is the most important point on the list. From my understanding the key to achieving wealth/riches/success/happiness/love, stems from your choice of mindset.

They way an individual chooses to think has a bearing on what they actually go on to achieve, and this is visible in all walks of life, and in every corner of society.

These rules were almost like ages old dictums that will continue to make sense no matter in which era we are. The point to remember here is never to let these rules wander out of your mind and sticking to them no matter what the situation is.

I don't think most people realize the power of the self-fulfilling prophecy. I'm glad to see you included vision in the #1 spot. There is a new and emerging science dedicated to power of the mind in creating reality.
