Did you update the copyright year(s) in the notice in the footer of your blog or elsewhere? It is one of the must-do exercise for bloggers and webmasters if you care about professionalism. If your theme doesn’t do it automatically and have not updated it and are looking for tips on how to do then you can read this post on dot com mogul John Chow or this post by Ajith.
The following snapshots are taken from various reputed blogs and websites. The copyright year(s) in all of them are outdated. The aim of publishing this is fun and humour and not sarcasm. All snapshots were taken on 12 February 11 AM IST.
Google blogs do not update copyright year(s) in the footer. The main Google sites however have the latest update but not the blogs.
The official Google blog is dated 2009

The Gmail blog is dated 2008

The Google Chrome blog says 2009

The Google student blog is dated 2008

The Google Analytics blog is dated 2009

The Google Website Optimizer blog is dated2008

Gator Crossing, the HostGator blog is dated 2009.

The Twitter blog is dated 2009

The Softlayer blog is dated 2008

Who is hosting this dot com (both the homepage and blog) is dated 2007-2009

I just went and checked and mine said is 2008, even though I just started the blog this yea! Obviously something I will have to change!
lol I love it. I actually updated mine 2 hours before new years. Funny stuff.
An update for those reading this post:
Who is Hosting This recently updated and revamped the site; so you may not find the error there anymore. Please note that all snapshots were saved on 12 February 2010.
See the English website of the government of China http://english.gov.cn/ It's still dated 2006 but the Chinese version of the site is dated 2010.
Put that in your footer and your're hassle free

WTF. I have to Change the Date of all of my Blog now. Thanks for this artikel.
I have never thought about this matter
hahahha i already know about this thing from you. yes humor but very informative.
Thanks for the reminder. I added code to one of my blogs a year ago that now automatically updates the copyright date (I used code similar to the John Chow example). Another one of my blog templates doesn't have a copyright date. A third blog I manage had the copyright auto update already built into the template.
Thanks for the post, I just updated my copyright at the bottom of my blog. I've never really noticed that little bit at the bottom. I guess it really does show how current the web development for the company is.
Just a heads up but
A) The link to WhoisHostingThis points to the wrong site though Softlayer is another big one that hasn't updated since 2008.
B) The site, which I blog for, was undergoing a major renovation and has since been fixed
Thanks!
