Thanks for the article. I'm not sure if I want to know who un-follows me, I will have to think more on that, but it is nice to know I have the option.

People un-follow for so many reasons, but so far, it seems to me that these are the main ones:

1.) You chose not to follow them (or did not get to it fast enough)

2.) They aren't interested in your content or vibe.

3.) They think you are just a "huckster" or a spammer

4.) They are getting overwhelmed with Tweets and are pruning.

5.) You don't post often enough and are a stale Tweeter.

6) Your content is too "adult" or offensive to them in some way.

I know that personally, I have un-followed people for each of the above reasons.

I'd be interested to hear of other you can think of.

What? No mention of the Birdbrain app for iPhone/ iPod Touch? For $2.99, it tracks followers, unfollowers, following, unfollowing, # of updates, # of mentions, Retweeted, and Blocked. View Followers and Following Lists. View Nonreciprocal Followers and Following. It handles multiple accounts easily, for no additional "in-app" charge. And it doesn't lag behind by hours or days, like some of these others. One of the few things that some of your reviewed tools do that Birdbrain does not is tell you which tweet(s) preceded an unfollow. Here is a link, I hope it works: Birdbrain Twitter Statistics

It's not a big deal to me. Right now the people who stop following me are the people I don't follow back. I'll admit I may pause if someone I liked stop following me but not enough to use one of these programs. It's part of life.

These tolls look extremely helpful. It is always important to keep a clean Twitter account (I am not a fan of the following 10,000 twitter accounts).
