Charnita FanceQwisk Makes Web Browsing Social

Qwisk - Browse the web, connect with friends.Qwisk is a very unique way to browse the Web and share content with others while doing so. Not only do you get a Qwisk account but you can also add your Twitter and Facebook accounts. Doing this allows you to see updates from your friends on these networks and share content with those friends. Signing up is easy since you can do so via Facebook connect, Twitter connect or Google connect. If you prefer though, you can create a Qwisk account.

Once you do login, you simply need to save the bookmarklet to your bookmarks toolbar. From there, you can click it from any page to start sharing on Qwisk. Alternately, you can just go to Qwisk.com, login and use the integrated address bar to browse different websites. Next to the address bar, you’ll find share buttons for Qwisk, Facebook and Twitter. Clicking these will of course share the current page on any of these networks. You can also add a message/tweet before sharing.

The real-time left sidebar is where most of the magic happens. If you add both your Twitter and Facebook account, you’ll have 4 different ways to view the sidebar. You can either view Twitter links, Facebook links, Qwisk updates or the “socialfeed” which shows all 3 sites together. Any links that are clicked from the sidebar will be opened in the right content frame.

Sharing content is the greatest feature of Qwisk. You can share both images and videos very easily just by dragging from the current webpage and dropping them onto the sidebar. Once you drag it to the sidebar, you can choose which network you want to share it on (as seen below). Videos, by the way, can be viewed inline within the sidebar which is also nice.

You can also share content with just a single friend from Twitter, Facebook or Qwisk. This is done by clicking on the person’s picture and then dragging it to the current page. You can then enter a message/tweet to be included.

If you want to edit your Qwisk basic profile, you can do this by clicking on your picture in the top left corner. Here you’ll be able to see what content you have shared on Qwisk, who you’re following and who’s following you. You can also view the “Leader Board” which shows the top Qwisk sharers. Lastly, you can search for other users to follow.

Now, just to clarify, Qwisk isn’t a Twitter or Facebook client. You can’t reply to tweets or Facebook items. It’s all about sharing the content you’re browsing and seeing what others are sharing. I really like the concept behind Qwisk. I’m always browsing different websites and always finding interesting things to share. Since Facebook and Twitter are the two main sites I use, Qwisk makes this task that much easier for me.

What are your thoughts on Qwisk?
