Do you often find it hard to say what you want to say on Twitter due to the character restriction? If 140 characters is sometimes just not enough for you, these Twitter tools for posting longer tweets will definitely come in handy for you.
Twitlonger lets you sign in via Twitter OAuth in order to post long blog-like posts on Twitter. It’s very simple, once you login you’ll get a large text area to write as much as you want. Even though there’s no character limits, there is a character counter in the top right corner. Once you finish your post and click the “post” button, it will automatically be posted on your Twitter account along with a link to view the full post.
ezTweets lets you post longer messages to both Twitter (via Twitter OAuth) and Facebook (via Facebook Connect). For Twitter, what it does is split your tweet up into parts. Each tweet will labeled with its appropriate order; for instance a total of 3 tweets would show 1/3 before tweet #1, 2/3 before tweet #2, and 3/3 before tweet #3. You can choose whether to post your tweets in ascending or descending order. Once again, there are no character limits.
With TwitterContd you can login using your Twitter credentials or vial Twitter OAuth. Unlike TwitLonger and ezTweets (mentioned above) there is a character limit of 1250 characters. There’s also an integrated URL shortener and a music search bar. The music search bar lets you search for an artist, song or album to include in your tweet. You can also upload numerous files (up to 100MB total) that will also be added to your tweet. Just like ezTweets, your tweets will be broken up into parts but you can also choose the type of separator that is used for each part.
RichTweets lets you post HTML tweets where you can change the color of your text and add images, links, videos and widgets. You can login via Twitter OAuth after which you’ll be presented with a rich text editor. You can also create a title for your post and add up to 4 tags if you desire. You can easily add YouTube videos by clicking on the YouTube button and then inserting the video URL. Alternately, you can embed other videos by entering the full code in the video embed box. The title that you use will be posted to your Twitter account along with a link to your post.

Although I’m sure some people have, I have never really felt the4 need to use these types of things ot make my tweets longer.
Me neither but some people apparently use Twitter as more of like a blog and like to post LONG messages. I once saw one on TwitLonger that was longer than most average blog posts!
I’ve seen some people send me DM which are obviously longer than 140 characters and wonder how they do it? My suspicion is that they use something like tweetlater (socialoomph I believe it’s called now) and just deliberately put in a large message and tweetlater has no choice but to send it out. That’s what I think anyway.
I like that ezTweets breaks up your tweets and puts a number on each tweet so you know it’s part of a long message. My method at the moment has been to write long tweets like this:
This is my first tweet…
…this is my second tweet…
…and this is my final tweet!
I use the dots to show that I’m continuing my message in my next tweet. The numbering may be something I use in future – or I should probably just use ezTweet!
Thanks for sharing

I enjoyed this post. It is great to see ways to extend the Twitter platform to make it even more attractive for any purpose we like. The other side of coin is being able to access the billion tweets that will be posted this month in some smart way. What do you use? I find TipTop search engine at http://FeelTipTop.com the best of the lot I have looked at so far.
Thanks for the useful post! I’ve always wanted to get my Twitter posts longer. Now I know that’s possible

You can also use Posterous to post long tweets. Create a post with as much body text as you want, include photos and video, and posterous will post it on twitter, facebook, and other sites automatically
Yes! Posterous is one of my favorite sites!
Thank you very much this will be very helpfull
it’s can be helpfull, but i never think that it can be interesting way..
uuuuuuuuuh… I feel compelled to mention that the whole purpose of Twitter is microblogging. The point is to say what you need to say inside of 140 characters. They are short, sweet, and to the point. When I want to post longer messages, I post to Facebook – or I email.
I don’t think I’d enjoy receiving paragraphs of text from people in my Twitter stream – especially when many people Tweet person-to-person conversations back and forth.
I’m with you on this. Twitter is 140 characters. Usually when I want to tweet more than I can in 140 characters, I find a way to be more succinct in my writing and manage quite well. There is some skill to getting a tweet right and I think it’s worth developing. Save your words for blogging.
I agree with the last poster. I find it obnoxious to get numerous broken up tweets, broken off tweets, or tweets that obviously don’t get to the point.
And I’m not going to reconstruct 140-character tweets to make them shorter, those tweets won’t get retweeted by me!
I feel you but we now have lots of users joining Twitter that don’t really understand how to use it. Especially celebrities……. it can get annoying.
This is a nice alternative for those who want to tweet a longer text or etc. but I guess that the limited space for characters is a unique element for Twitter. I would say that a tweet is an art because it’s about you simplify what do u want to say or spread in just a few words.
By the way, these sites are interesting and good alternatives for those who wanna use the described functions. Keep up!
