Quite often we come across articles emphasising the need of comment posting but at the same time, it pays to check pros and cons of such strategy. Both blogs need to be equal partner in this method. Traffic can come once in a while based on random comments but content is actual key here.

Great post Larry--try Google translate. I don't think it translates perfectly, but you'll get the main message. :)

One of the key things in this post--that I'm glad you said out loud is "sucking up." Which, in a sense is what spammers do---be sure to look at Google translate, it will even detect that the language above is Russian, if you aren't sure. LOL.

I absolutely agree with your approach. All the tips on blogging and gaining readers state that you should actively comment on other blogs--it's almost as if they are saying to "suck up." No one likes a suck up and most people don't like to feel they are sucking up.

It may be a slower strategy (aka approach), but I firmly believe that you should only comment on other blogs (and posts) if they truly captured your attention or left you with something great.

On my blog, I hate getting comments that simply say, "Great post. This is useful information." I also hate to see those on other blogs. If it's great information--elaborate; tell me why you liked it, what you got out of it.

I don't comment as often as I should (for a strategic approach) but when I do comment, I try to say enough to inform the writer that the message reached me in some way. This may not be the fast approach, but it is the sincere approach.

I never comment or mention another blog for a backlink--I do it because I found value in the material. If all bloggers did this--it would create better relationships; building a solid foundation is always better than the springboard strategy--in my opinion.

Thanks again, Larry!
