Kevin MuldoonSEO PowerSuite – Premium SEO Software

SEO PowerSuiteIn the last few days I have been messing around with SEO PowerSuite. a premium SEO package which contains 4 quality SEO scripts. The professional edition of SEO PowerSuite retails for £249 whereas the Enterprise edition retails for £599 (which is around $660 and $1,650 respectively). Thankfully, there is also a version of the script which is available to everyone for free .

SEO PowerSuite provided me with a professional copy of the software in order to write this review, however most of the features I speak about are also available in the free version.

Without further ado, let’s look at the 4 SEO scripts which SEO PowerSuite offers.

Rank Tracker

Rank Tracker allows you to see where your blog is ranked for your chosen keywords and phrases around the web.

After entering your blog address you decide what search engines you want to track your keywords on. In total there is a whopping 561 search engines which you can track your blog on.

Rank Tracker

You then need to enter your keywords and phrases, which are then checked against the search engines you chose. As you can see from the image below, choosing too many search engines can overwhelm you with information.

Rank Tracker

Your keyword rankings are saved so that you can easily see any increase or decrease in positions. This is a useful feature as it will help explain increases and decreases in traffic.

Rank Tracker also features a keyword suggestion tool, which will help you figure out what keywords you should be targeting. You can choose from 11 different tools including Googles Adwords Suggestion Tool and the popular Wordtracker.

Rank Tracker Keyword Suggestion Tool

Rank Tracker also tells you how often keywords have been searched for and works out the Keyword Efficiency Index for you, which helps you optimise your blog for the search engines. Here’s how they explain it:

Rank Tracker can show you how many times a keyword has been actually searched by real people over the last month, plus how stiff the competition for this keyword is. This “number-of-searches-to-competition” ratio is known as Keyword Efficiency Index, or KEI.

This is how professional search engine optimizers pick the best keywords to optimize for — they choose keywords with the biggest number of searches AND the lowest competition. Go ahead, use the KEI feature to find out which keywords are worth it!

Website Auditor

The Website Auditor looks at your content and determines what keywords are being used most on your blog. This is known as keyword density.

After entering your chosen keywords, you are presented with a report which shows you the most common keywords being used on your blog. The report informs you where it was used i.e. title, body, H1 tag, meta description and so on. Keywords are then listed according to a weighted score, which takes into account the importance of where the keyword was used.

The Website Auditor also provides an analysis of your top 10 competitors. This will help you understand why your rivals may be ranking higher than you on some terms.

SEO SpyGlass

The SEO SpyGlass script is one of the most useful parts of the SEO PowerSuite package.

It allows you to analyse incoming links to any website on the net. This allows you to look at thousands of links to your blog and more importantly, your competitors. It shows you the anchor text which was used in the link, tells you whether the nofollow tag used and tells you the age of the domain. It also tells you the PR of the domain and the Alexa rank.

This is a particularly useful resource as it lets you see who is linking to you and competitors and what anchor text. It also highlights why some links are passing more juice than others.

Link Assistant

The 4th SEO script is Link Assistant, an automatic link exchange script which contacts owners of similar sites to your own.

Link Assistant checks to see if the person you contacted has linked back and whether they have used the correct anchor text. Very useful if you are trying to build incoming links to a specific page or site.

Pricing

A version of SEO PowerSuite can be downloaded for free. It actually has most of the features of the premium editions except you can’t save your project, schedule tasks, migrate or export data.

The two paid editions of SEO PowerSuite are Professional and Enterprise. Professional is the version which most of you would want as it contains most features. The Enterprise edition is for SEO companies and allows you to brand reports as your own and export data to the web.

SEO PowerSuite retails for £249 whereas the Enterprise edition retails for £599 (which is around $660 and $1,650 respectively). For more details on the differences between each edition please visit their Features & Editions page.

It is also possible to purchase the SEO scripts individually. Each script retails at £99.75 for the Professional edition and £249.75 for the Enterprise version.

Overview

I was very impressed with SEO PowerSuite., It pulls a large amount of SEO data on your own blog and on your rivals and will help you understand why you are ranking for some terms over others. All scripts allow you to schedule certain tasks on a daily or weekly basis, which will help you build a good analysis of your blog over time.

I recommend downloading the free version SEO PowerSuite to see what results come up for your blog. The free version has most of the features of the premium versions except the number of results is limited. For example, with SEO SpyGlass you can only list 1,100 backlinks whilst with the paid versions it’s unlimited.

You cannot save projects in the free version or schedule tasks either so if you find the tools on SEO PowerSuite, it may be worth considering upgrading to the Professional edition.

Nice review! In your experience, how does this compare to other options such as SEOmoz’s paid tools? We currently use them at our company and have found them to be extremely beneficial, but this option looks like it does very similar types of analysis except for one price instead of monthly.

  2. There is no doubt in my mind that ‘SEO Power Suite’ together with ‘Web Ceo’ are two of the best SEO tool packs out there.

  3. Matt – I’ve not used SEOMoz’s tools so I can’t give a fair comparison. However, I do prefer to pay up front for software rather than on a monthly basis. Why not download the free version and see if compares well to SEOMoz? Out of interest, do you use SEOMoz for clients?

Oscar – Yeah Web Ceo is a script I tried out years ago. Haven’t used that in years though so not sure if they offer many of the same tools.

    Great post.
I’m still learning about SEO and this package looks really good – I’ll take a look.
    Thanks.

Nice review and what a powerful tool that SEO enthusiasts and bloggers could readily use to boost up their blogs’ traffic from search engines.

  6. John says:

Good review, I have been looking at this software myself, the pricing is a little unfair in my view, £249 for the UK and $249 for the US.
But after running the trial, it does look very good
