I have a content slider that features 12 of my previous posts including images and I find my readers/visitors tend to visit more pages this way than if I'd had the whole landing page dedicated to the current post alone. They also end up spending more time on my website this way. As you said, there's a lot of timeless useful information that needs to be featured so it doesn't just lie dormant in the blog archive...and we don't want that to happen, do we?
